i was driving on he highway today and got about 110 and i heard this high pitch knocking really fast please tell me my motor isn't about to go i got got that thing like 10,000 miles ago i never heard it before until now as soon as i heard it i backed off any help would be good

 

Is it a buitl motor or a stocker? Did it make the squel any more on the way home? Im not shure what it could be.

 

no its stock and thats what puzzles me it stop complete right when i let off and i even gave it more gas at lower speeds but was afraid to get up to that speed again but it only did it once im gonna to get it up to that speed tomorrow and see if it does the same thing but i thought if the engine was knocking it would do it all the time just get louder when the rpms got higher...chris

could it be belt slippage? Mine has made a couple funny sounds like that and I'm pretty darn sure it's the belt slipping (will make that noise right when I let off the gas)

Could it be Detonation ?
There's all kinds, and it can sound differant
depending on how bad it's Detonating.

Usual Cause "if" it's not tune or Octane related is:
a restricted Fuel Filter
clogged Injector
bad gas
etc...

 

I thought my motor threw in the towel when my water pump piled up and flew threw the radiator on my 03 and the P.O.S only had 3000 Km's on it.
My 03 is 7 months old and has almost $20,000 in warrenty claims on it.

 

You should change your fuel filter, and head to your nearest dyno to have the A/F mixture checked BEFORE making any more high speed runs. The load on your truck is much higher at high speeds, and thus more prone to knock if there is not enough fuel present. My $0.002.
