quick nitrous question
quick nitrous question
I am getting a catback bassani day after tommorow w/ high-flow cats, other than that i am completely stock.
My question is that if i go with a set of headers and 55-75 shot of nitrous what kind of times can i expect? also would this be safe?
thanks

I run 75 HP of Wet Nitrous on 4lbs and even 6lbs of Extra Pulley,
so yes it's as safe as you can expect, and a hell of a lot safer
than I run
As far as what to expect, it takes a clear 1 full second off my ET's
give or take 1/10th. That will differ depending on your tune, location, altitude, octane, track conditions, bla bla bla...
I "was" running consistant 12.7's and 12.8's off juice with 16 degrees of timing, using that identical 16 degree program, I ran
12.0 originally with the juice at 65HP and 4lbs of pulley,
then later I ran an 11.81 with 75HP and 6lbs of pulley.
SO AGAIN, you may not get a full second off due to you having less boost and no Accu Fab, Multi Spark Ing, etc....
But I will say this, Nitrous DOES NOT lie. If you use 75 HP Jets,
you get 75HP. My best guess depending on your tune, at least 1/2 a second off your ET with the 75 HP of juice.
I now have a more aggresive program for all gasoline than when I ran and backed up 12.7's and 12.8's but I'm comparing the identical program off and on juice to show you the exact diff it made for me
BTW
GO WET "not Dry"
AND GOOD LUCK

If that Motor runs tops, doesn't burn oil or make noises, then I'd say lets wake that SOB up and show it some HP
get a Zex 55/65/75 HP Kit, and start witht he 55HP jets,
you'll be fine
Life's all about taking chances

Of course the more miles on it, the more chances are
a part of the drive train is now weaker than new, and
can become the weak link in ANY performance application.
I can only tell you I've used Nitrous on Motors with high mileage before and got away with it, but on my last Chevelle, there was
NO DOUBT it was taken it's toll on the transmission, and that was fairly new and built very well. Eventually after much nitrous use,
I find the transmission is usually the first to go.
(provided your tuned correclty, and not over juicing it of course)

I think the other guys might back me up on this one. I'd take the money you were spending on the exhaust and invest it in a FTVB, air intake system and a lower pulley. You will probably see better overall gains in performance and at least give your tranny a chance to survive the added power from the bottle. Just my .02
