Predator and Sal's touch

Well got my '03 L in May of last year and have 10,000 miles on it.
Truly have enjoyed the vehicle but always have been very unhappy the way it shifted. Shifted kinda like an expensive luxury car would... 8-( To try to get it to shift like I wanted it to I bought the FTVB and geeeeez, that made a heck of a difference BUT still found I was pushing the OD button on and off repeatedly when say cruising / tooling around town. I just like the feeling of riding in a lower gear! You know like if you were driving a stick and keeping it in lower gear you you could hear the exhaust, feel the torque, etc.. Well, again the L fell flat on it's face in that department even with the FTVB. ANYWAY, got the Predator and when I was talking to Sal/ PSP about what I wanted in a tune I mentioned this concern. When I got my custom tune via Predator, from Sal my L now has the 3-4 upshift not occuring until 55mph. This is slicker then chitttt! NOW, no more need to turn OD on and off. It's great, but of course using a tad more gas. Between the FTVB and the 3-4 upshift not occuring until 55mph, well, it is like I would drive it if it were stick shift. Yup, happy L owner here. 8-) THANKS SAL !

That's a great idea. I'll have to remember that for my next reburn.

My Predator and a few other choice parts just showed up, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the L's going to feel like. I really like the idea of being able to change tunes by a download rather than shipping. I can also go back to stock if a warranty issue arises and no footprint. Got to love that.

Thought the predator let you change shift points yourself? Only reason I'm asking is because that was one of the reasons I was getting the predator because I don't like the factory shift points either. You can change them a little bit by resetting the computer and driving like a wild man while it learns your driving style...but still don't think it would hold the RPMs like a retune would.

I didn't know you can do that, I frigging hate OD,
but I stopped shutting it off ever time I get in it,
ever since I forgot to put it back on and ended up
doing over 130 MPH
in 3rd gear

AND YES YOU CAN FOR THE NON BELIEVER'S

BTW

This will all be a thing of the past soon with the new Smart
Transmission's being used in the upcoming year or two for
most Car Mfgr's, some are already using it along with the
Mag Shocks, another AWESOME Technoligy we will all benifit from

Rob,

Are you talking about the constantly variable trannys? I've always wondered how those work. Mag shocks? what are mag shocks?

Rollin,
If I'm not mistaken, the Predator only lets you change RPM shift points at WOT. If it changed them at all during regular driving, I sure can't tell.. Mine will still hit 3rd gear by 15 or so mph when you ease along.... I was hoping to be able to play with regular driving shift points too, but no.

I got a Predator last week along with a few pulls on the Dyno.
It made some pretty impressive #'s,441 RWHP,540 RWTQ with a very "Fat" 11.7 A/F ratio. This is with the Predator's "Stock" Pulley Program. The Tuner said he could play with it for Hours and maybe pick up another 10 HP,but he'd rather leave it alone. He was Amazed that the "Stock" Program did that well.
I also have shift point issues.I had a JLP Diablo Delta Flip Chip and it made good power, but seemed to shift too quickly under normal part-throttle driving conditions.
I thought that would be corrected with the Predator, but it hasn't changed.
Do I need to call a Tuner and get a Custom Program??

Well, you can fool with the Predator and try to get your L the way you want it. With the Predator the vehicle -owner can do a tad of adjusting-. My feeling is get a custom tune as you probably paid for it as part of your Predator purchase anyway. Let the tuner know exactly what your issues/concerns are. If your tuner is Sal or has skills similar to Sal your issues/concerns will undoubtedly be taken care of in the custom tune. Tuners can do lots of adjustments that you as the end user cannot.

I haven't Data Logged yet.I'll have to read the Manual and play with it a little.

I know what ya mean...I've had mine about a month, and finally got around to experimenting/learning and did more datalogging in the last two days than I have since I first installed the program.....Pretty neat to be able to check things out yourself!!!
