what mods can i do with high mileage?

I just bought this truck and it has 88,000miles.

Is it safe to do maybe a 4#lower pulley, chip, MAF,etc. with that many miles?

What mods do you recommend for mid to low 12sec 1/4 mile times without slicks?

did you buy the truck with those miles, or did you put them on?
Were they hard miles or "gentle" miles.

There are a few lightning in here with a lot of miles.,

the 4# lower, chip, stock intake modificaiton and a Factory Tech Valve body should get you into the 12's and be "relatively" safe.

the major problem you are going to have getting into the 12's is traction issues!
You'll need either slicks or traction bars.
I used lakewood traction bars last year and liked them. you can buy them new for about $100. I sold mine last week for $55.
(check classifieds)
plus they eliminate (for the most part) the rear end hopping.

you should get into 12's with the above.

I take it you have a '99-00 with a 80mm maf... you won't need to upgrade to a 90mm until you are around 430rwhp. (save $100 and stick with the 80mm)

also, the 1owner that had it before me was a nascar driver for circle bar racing, so I would imagine that he was pretty hard on it at times, but at the same time he knew how to take car of it.

99 lightning

realistically you are not getting anywhere near low 12s with a chip/pully/minor mods on street tires. You can get high 12s with those mods but thats even with good traction.........
