bad parts department

well i just heard from my parts department at the greatest ford dealer EVER!!! and they told me that the part i ordered for my seats being cut (the assembly that the seat sits on to mount to the floor) wont be in untill feb 15th because its on back order! for some reaason they didnt think to tell me this before, and assured me that it would be in within 7 working days. so now i have a cut seat that i cant install...looks like im hitting the junkyards tomorrow...

That sucks dude. Sometimes I wonder if I should bother with the seat mod.

Of course my bigest problem is finding a damn console.

well i have to say that since i have my seat cut already, ive put it in to get a look at it, and i love it, so the mod i would definately say is going to be a good thing when i get done with it. im counting on being abl to find the part i need at a junk yard...then ill just return the part i ordered from ford.

i found a console by just calling around to junkyards over and over, eventually i think they got tired of me calling and admitted they had what i wanted!

latemodel, i think i remeber what youre working on, let me know how that goes, im interested, might do it if youg et it working!

Where does one even go to get a seat cut ???
And how much do they charge for the cutting and sewing ?

Has anyone checked out the Bucket Seats Pep Boys has,
they are truly awesome and I think they would look amazing
in the Lightning, just don't know about the mounting, hate to
do the old wood block and nut on top of nut trick to make them fit.

Rob,

I called around and found a auto/marine upholstery shop here in san diego that did mine for 150. the sewing looks perfect and i wa really impressed. it only took him 1 day. ill go take some pics real quick.

heres two pics of the seat after it was cut...

and heres the only part you need to take to them (theres two more parts you need, but only to install the seat back in)...

Oh, so another words they don't cut the original frame ???
instead you bring them a new frame, and they take the orig
seat covers off, cut it, and re-install it on the new frame.
I get it

Dam they did an awesome job

God I Love this Mod, got to give some serious thought
to doing it. Knowing me, I'll go buy the new seats at Pep Boys and then bolt the factory entire set up to my living room floor.
This way I'm always sitting in my Lightning

THANKS Denny
Very imformative

rob,

thats it man, you do need a few other parts...

the handle you adjsut the seat with...

and you will also need the support assembly off a expedition for the left hand side of the passenger seat (the parts that mounts the seat rail to the floor)...

if you find an expedition at at a junk yard, grab the console, mounting brackets and passenger seat, then youll have everything you need.

something else i did was recover the armrest of the expy console with some left over fake suede from the factory armrest...id post pics, but my camera is on vaction in colorado, and im stuck here!!

hope this helps...

good luck
