Truck seems to try to lunge forward on start-up
This is a little difficult to explain but here goes. When I crank up my truck it seems as if it's trying to lunge forward. Of course it doesn't go anywhere because it's in park but it does rock forward pretty hard. I really notice it after it sets overnight and especially when the temps are in the 40's - low 50's.
Checked all the fluids and their all A-OK. I was thinking that it just may be the torque in the motor rocking the truck a bit but he!! it's stock for the most part. If it was torque we all would feel it so that doesn't seem logical. It doesn't do it after it's warmed up. Did a search and found nothing related. I have been trying to figure this out for about a month and I'm at a total loss. Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Todd

That's normal.
Don't worry about it.
There have been several threads about this over the years but the terminology used is not always the same so it might not show up doing a search.

Yup its normal. It happens to my truck every once and a while. If it happens a lot all I would do is press on the brake when starting or just have the e-brake on. Some where mentioning not barking within a few inches of anything as well.

trans lunge
Hi the reason the trucks do this is on start up with cold trans fluid is the fluid that is on the clutch pack friction discs is thicker than when hot and some of the rotating force of the turbine shaft from the converter is transfered through the trans and out to the rear end. this takes up any slack in the parking mech. and can cause the truck to roll until it is up against the parking paw in the trans. This usually only occurs when the truck is parked on a level surface if parked slightly dowh hill in the front you will never feel it because the weight of the truck is already resting on the parking paw hence no slack to take up
