Question about Dime Mod
Question about Dime Mod
Now here's a Mod even I can afford
Thank's for the picture Red 92

and Thanks to everyone who helped in that last post,
I think I actually finally understand ALL angles on this prob.
So of what Red, No Surprise and all the other helpful people
are saying is, even with the twin PCV set up I have,
I still want the Dime Mod. I will first try it with a hole in it, so
I still have some Vac getting through. I assume by keeping
the hole towards the top of the dime "once inserted" that
should kill pretty much all the flow of oil anyway, plus it gives
me time to decide if I want to totally block it off.
My question is, what size is a #30 Hole ???
Thats the size I was sugested to drill.
Maybe two holes is better, maybe two dimes inserted
correctly is better. One with the hole down, then another with the hole up, "properly spaced apart" would pretty much stop
any possibility of oil passing through but still allow the Vac to
get through
Oh Ya,
A Special Thanks to Vinnie.
Since my L is a 2002, I really wanted to use a 02 Dime,
after ripping the house apart, I found none.
Vinnie was good enough to drop one in the mail yesterday,
(for a fee of course)
I got it today. I think that was really nice of him.
Hey V, did you get me Pay Pal Payment for the Dime ?

Hey Ronbo...why the hole ???
I have the Swanson kit (got my mom to get for me for xmas) and theres no hole in the thing they supply. I've had it in for about a week and a half now with no problems that I can see.

FWIW------ a 19/64 bit = .297
Thanks Gator
Josh,
Seems to be conflicting opinions on if it's proper to completely
block it off or not ??? So if you drill a hole in the plug (dime),
the Vac can still go through, but it will still stop most of the oil
from flowing through, I think I'll make up a custom piece,
"simular to a shot gun shell" with a hole up top on one side,
and a bottom hole on the other side.
Just think, I could market it and have the money V has
This could be as big as Apten

Here's one drill size chart. There's several on the internet. I did a search for "drill sizes".

As for why the hole, I don't know if I even know the answer
ANYMORE ??? But getting back to basic's, all a PCV is,
is a tube from your *** back to your mouth, so the burn off,
is not discharged into our precious air. You can do as some have,
and completely do away with all lines and hoses,
of course you'll need two breathers so you don't
pressurize the system.
"OR" you can try and correct our system so it don't suck oil,
thats what I'm trying to do. The Lightning Enterprise PCV
system has completely done away with half the problem
(no more oil coming from the Drivers side up the boot into TB)
And also cut down the other oil sucking problem, (rear of upper)
I think this Dime trick will complete the fix, only time will tell
I can't lie, I did aim right for the head
Don't have a clue who that clown is ???
Don't you think they should put people on there we know,
Like Vinnie
OR SOMETHING ???

I was thinking it shoud be Leeann on the dime, then us guys out on the West coast would at least know what she looks like
If it was Leeann, we wouldn't want you to drill a hole in her head though Rob. Maybe somewhere else would be OK, or something. LOL

I just did the dime mod on mine it only cost me 30 cents. I used two of the dimes and droped one somewhere between the motor and the ground. I put one on both sides of my motor.
On a side note i took my upper intake of today and it was full of oil. The teflon is flaking of my s/c rotors and there is oil all in the s/c case. I didnt have enougth carb clean to take off the s/c and clean it so i just cleaned the upper real good and will clean the rest when i find a good oil fix.
