Question Squirrelly steering

I've noticed lately that my steering has been getting more and more squirrelly. The tires feel like they're tracking every little crack or bump in the road, and if I go over any rough surfaces, they're all over the place. On the freeway, it sort of feels like the truck is getting blown around by gusts of wind.

Anybody know what might be going on? Do I just need an alignment, or does it sound like something more serious?

It's a stock 2002 with about 16,000 miles.

Thanks!

I've had the same feeling in my 02 for the past 10,000 or so miles, ford passed it off as normal even though I know it isn't. 18,000 on my 02

Although im up in LA, i do know that the past week or so has been EXTREMELY windy here...and weve been getting wind warnings on the freeways...meaning hold on to your steering wheel good, with both hands, or else youll quickly find urself two lanes over if ur not paying attention...especially for freeways like the 118, if any of you know where that is.

Our wide tires some times do follow the road however, I had my truck aligned at a wheel and axel place. I took the Factory specs with me and the tech set the front end to that but I still was wearing the inside of my tires and the truck got pulled around by the road. Took it back and the tech set it up the old fashion way its been almost a year and no issues now and no tire wear.
I don't recomend your average front end place take it to a wheel and axel place. A little more money but you get what you pay for!
