Hey Rob,
If I ask JL to gimme a "Rob Tune" would he know what I want? My non-nitrous setup will be pretty much like yours except a couple things:
- I only have 91 octane available to me
- Texas climate vs New York
You still think he could work around that and gimme the same tune as you? I mean you have been working on your tune for awhile and have managed to knock down some nice numbers all while being safe about it. So what do you think?
BTW I do plan to get nitrous at a later date...KINGPIN's $900 for EVERYTHING INCLUDED ZEX KIT looked mighty tempting...only thing...didn't have $900

Was On Nitto DR's
I had been driving on my Nitto DR's with the same set up as Rob described above. Broke down and put my studded snow tires on the back after getting a little stuck in my driveway. Went out for a drive tonite, its 16 F out. No problem if I just keep my foot out of the TB. Actually found quite abit of pavement, but never put the boost up past 10. Still had fun though, listening to tunes and just going for a winter drive in the L.

Enclosed you will find my Diablo Delta Chip. As per conversation I need you to burn me a NITROUS Program, and a Gas Program, I will use the gas Program for both Street + Strip.
I will also use the Nitrous Program For Both Street + Strip.
You also said we will meet up at Cecil (I’m on your list)
And then you can plug in and get some true readings so you can then tweak it later

You can run your side 2 with wide open blast I hope to see your no2 side with around 13-15 * timing and your street side with 16-17* timing with of course different values changed that I really don't talk about. There is more to this than just checking timing and A/F. I would rather get my equipment on your truck to know exactly what the programs are doing. We'll do that later, let me know how it goes when you get the chip back.....JL
I ran (2) 12.0's on this Program, FIRST TIME OUT
But we found out I needed (Vinnies Favorite Topic) MORE TIMING.
After a few more days at the track, and another Phone Conversation, the Chip went back with a short letter.
It was basically Tweaked and made more aggressive to where
I am now,
(My 9th + 10th Programs)
Johnny, Here's the Problem I'm having since I got your Programs,
I have to run the Gas Program while using Nitrous to get "ANY ET" out of it. If I use the Nitrous Program there's not enough timing "or ET" or any top end power. It runs perfect using the Gas Program "WITH NITROUS on pump gas" and that’s how I’m currently running it. A matter of fact I think it needs more timing than even the gas side I’m using.
The other problem is when using the ALL GAS PROGRAM on ALL GAS Runs, I find it slower than my original gas program because again it's down a degree or two on timing from what I had.
So I want the Gas program at @18 Degrees of Timing
And the Nitrous Program at 15 to 16 Degrees of Timing.
Everything else you did is perfect and I love it.
Your's Truly

The Bottom line is, a Program is a work in progress,
and even when Dyno Tuned, (it aint the same as Driving it)
You really have to listen and learn, and then YOU have to figure out what changes you want the Tuner to make.
I have been involved with all 10 of my programs
like you see here, (Phone, letters, questions, track testing)
differant Chips, differant Tuners. The main reason I am still
together is because I did it slowly over the course of ten programs and 1 full year of test and tuning.
The only reason I have not gotten a Predator or moved up to
this new Generation Diablo Software is because, my truck runs
flawlessly with any combination I threw at it now.
JOHNNY HOOKED ME UP BIG TIME AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY TUNES.
(a full second off with 75HP of juice) went from a 12.8 to 11.8
and off juice he got me another 10th (Last all gas run 12.7)
but that was with 15/16 degrees of timing not the 18 degrees I got now, (I'm faster now)
So the truck runs solid easy 12's with a simple filter-chip-4lb-T/B
and 11.'s with the click of a switch

and Zero Mileage ( Which is when the Mod's started
)I had once tried the tranny pressure increase in a Chip
in an early Program from Motor Haven and didn't like it ,
(Banged into gear) the next 6 or so had no tranny tweaking in the chip, either way it shifted higher than it was suppose to.
Nick of Diablo explained it best to me over on Ford Mod Forum,
(sorry at work now, don't have the link handy)
It's a fairly common problem with modded L's he tells me.
Has to due with the increased rate of acceleration vs the way
our transmission is set up to read acceleration and shift based on what it's reading.
Too dam slippery out for me to possibaly find out if the FTVB did anything except created a major traction problem
