Specifics on "PCV Kit"

I have used the search function but can't find the pics. Anyone have very detailed instructions with pics on how to do the homemade PCV kit (Swanson kit)?

I read in a recent post that the Cobra PCV won't work? Exactly which hose do I plug off? I am pulling the blower this week to be ported and might as well clean the IC and install the kit while I am at it

Thanks in advance!

The Cobra PCV works fine for me, little to no oil in my dual oil seperators. Heres the part # you will need.

I have pictures of which hose to block off but they are at NHTOC and I cant open a gallery here for some reason, sorry. You can always give me a ring and I can explain it to you if need be.

NO...I chose not to use the dime looking thingy they give you with the kit.... I didnt feel right blocking a hose put there by the factory.....

I run the seperators and the PCV, thats it....I still get a little oil from the other hose that "T's" into the other one....Am I making any sense???

I think they recommended to PCV's, one each side.

I use to knock myself dead over this.

I had the Crank Case Breather ("Yick") with a Custom Check Valve, so it COULD NOT take un-metered air in

I had the Oil Seperator

NOW I had dirty oil blowing out a Breather Cap on the Motor,
and a pain is the a$$ Seperator that had to be empty'd often.

Then I realized, Hey, I haven't EVER had to add one drop of
oil to my Lightning since the day I bought it, so how much oil
can it actually be sucking (enough to FU the intercooler, I know)

So I ripped it all off, and bought this Kit

It's nothing but a WORKING PCV Valve,
and a SECOND ONE that works in the opposite direction,
for the other side, (where none was before)

Unfortunatly this only fixes ONE of our TWO oil sucking prob's
This WILL AND DOES STOP any oil from blowing out the Drivers
Side Valve cover and up the Line, into the Boot, and right into
the FRONT of the Throttle Body, THAT PROB IS "NO MORE"

However,
I do still suck oil into the REAR of the upper
(A seperator WOULD stop that, but not worth the hassels)

Will a Swanson Kit take care of BOTH OIL PROBLEMS we have.

And how bout a Picture and step by step on the Swanson Kit ?
one last time

Thanks for the info guys! I am a little worried about plugging a factory hose as well. I am worried that the dime won't stay there

Rob the only thing your lacking to have the Swanson Kit is a plug
"dime" in the line that enters the back of the upper plenum.

Pull the line of and stick a dime in there, and put it back on.

This seems like the worst place for oil to be entering because its mixing with the fuel/air charge.....the original design of course was to burn crank case vapors only , but unfortunately along with crank case vapors is a oil laden mist.....plug the line, the crank case will vent out the drivers side..

why not just take off those hoses and run two valve cover breathers?

Unmetered air entering the engine is not a good thing

silver bullit 99, breather caps upset the fuel/air ratio by allowing unmeter air into and out of the PCV system. Some have reported oil leaking from the breather caps as well. Higher boost levels make the oil discharge worse.

The MotorCraft EV-98-B PCV valve stops the boost pressure from entering the passenger side cam cover. The "dime" plug stops the boost pressure pushing the oil that has pooled in the lower intake galley, after the I/C, back up the PCV hose into the upper intake plenum. A tinny bit of boost WILL make its way passed the new PCV valve back into the passenger side cam cover, hopefully carrying the oil from the intake galley with it.
