Smile Still Kicking after all these years

Well it's been a long time since I was last seen around here. I just wanted to say that my red 2000 Lightning is alive and well in NC. I have had the intercooler recall and wiper motor recall and that's it. Nothing has ever broken, fallen off or stopped working on this truck. Now admittedly I am low miles, still haven't quite cracked 10k, but time does take a toll. When I do drive it I never miss the opportunity to drop the hammer a bit. After 3.5 years I still love this truck and still think it is the best truck ever made and definitely the best vehicle I have ever owned. No complaints here, the only minor problem I have these days is no traction. I swear it's like driving on ice on these half used up F1's. With the traction I am getting now an R/T might be able to take me, LOL.

Forgot to mention that for most of the miles my L has had a conservative JDM chip installed, with torque reduction on and line pressure stock.

Is the wiper motor recall still in effect?

I also forgot to mention that I will give up my Lightning keys when they pry my cold dead fingers from around them.

I don't know if the wiper motor recall is still in effect or not. I do know that it affected many 2000 F150's and not just the Lightning model. The intercooler recall for 99-00 Lightnings ended long ago though.

I think i saw your truck the sun before christmas at a bar up there. i was up there picking up my new race car from Hamkes in mooresville and we were staying at our friends house that lives by the Lowes motor speedway. I cant wait to move up there in the next year or two since there is actual places to buy L parts in person.

That's OK mracer mine only has 8,600 miles on it too. It was a garage queen when I first bought it but my wife kept asking why I didn't drive it more if I liked it so much. I agreed and sold my Ranger 4X4 every day truck and started driving the Lightning. I now feel it's the best decision I made in a while. I'm having a great time driving it not saving it for someone else like I did my three Mustangs. We have to take the SuperCrew when the whole family goes out but when it's three or less it's Lightning time . Having lots of fun with our Lightning now. I've had no problems with it at all although I did install Herbs washers.

Hamkes ... AHHH my old Oval track race car days. I was Crew chief for a guy who drove a Hamke. Excellent chassis builder.
Fine choice.

Hes one of the best thats why weve been running his chassis for since day 1. My new car that i picked up is a all chrome molly frame and it is a nice piece and very light two guys can pick it up. But it cost 18,000 just for the frame and nothing else.

BTW he has some nice hotrods in the back that hes built.

LatemodelRacer2, Sorry that was not me in Mooresville that you saw. I'm in Raleigh, but if it counts for anything, I know Mooresville quite well because I used to live in southern Iredell county.

SilverBolt, LOL, We are polar opposites or something. I finally went all Ford and got rid of the S-10 beater. I just bought a used Ranger 4x4 SC to be my bad weather ride. The Lightning has always been for nice days only. When I feel the need to row gears I drive a 2001 Mustang GT 5-speed. Anyone here can laugh at me and I won't care, but the truth is that after 3.5 years I still won't drive the L in the rain. I think I turned on the wipers once just to make sure they work.

I gave up my '98 Cobra so we could qualify to buy our house. This last year the wife let me trade in her Mustang GT (which I gave to her to shut her up) for my '03 L. The wife took the "03 EB Expedition with 20" blings. I will never be able to thank her enough for letting me get the L. I truly love this truck. I drive it daily, but only live 3 miles from work so the miles aren't piling up. The other day a guy says to me "nice truck, too bad it doesn't seat more". Are you kiddin me, that's the beauty. We have 4 kids, and since the family can't fit in the L, I'm the only one that drives it. Somehow God has smiled on me.

Oh yeah, Rob and Vinnie, I was a race car driver too. You probably saw pictures of me with my girlfriend ahh Morgan Fairchild, yeah that's the ticket, Morgan Fairchild. LMAO
