4 # lower pulley help PLEASE!!

Hello everyone!! I just recently bought a JDM 4# lower pulley used on ebay. Will I need a different belt size?? If so could anyone tell me which part# please. Will I also need special tools?? And will it be better if I get a chip for this bolt on or will it runs good as is?? I have a hypertech programer, a JDM intake kit, boost bypast, Denso iridium IT16's spark plugs, and a 160 degree thermostat. I ran 13.48 @ 102 in the 1/4 mile, what times would be possible with the pulley??? Thank you everyone your help is appreciated!! happy holidays everyone!!:santa:

svtjulian,

With the four pounder you can use the stock belt if you wish. If you do want to move to a new belt you would want the Gates K080670. If the Hypertech is not programed for the extra 4 pounds of boost I wouldn't use it and go with a chip instead. You should easily drop to a 12 second truck with these parts.

Hope this helps,

Justin@JDM

4# here. Either run the stock computer or step up to a chip that is calibrated for a 4#.

I have a 4lber on order and my chip is being reburn. How much differance does the pulley make? I can hardley wait to get it. When I do get it on there will probably be snow on the ground. Last spring I ran an 8.54@83.64mph with a 2.02 60' and I am hoping the pulley and traction bars can get me just one pass in the 7's 7.999 will work.LOL

I have a JDM 4# and chip and ran the times in my sig with a 1.89 60ft. Also have Lakewood traction bars. My 1/8 mile was 8.18 at 85.70 mph on that run. Good luck getting a 7.999 in IN! My truck is a factory freak (see dyno #'s) and I had and exceptional 60ft time on F1's. You'll see a 7.999 on slicks, but not on F1's IMO.

To answer the original post, I use my stock belt with the JDM 4# no problem. You'll probably see a gain of 2-4 mph.

fractaldragon: thats my goal is the 7 second pass. The track is pretty crappy but is only 385' above sea level and maybe a good tailwind.... I dont want to go to slicks I may go to a drag radial though depending on funds

Like everyone is saying
12's are quite achievable with a simple filter-chip-n-4lbs,
however I WOULD NOT "under any circumstance",
run a 4lb pulley with #16 plugs.
Denso IT 22's would be the SAFE choice,
some may say stay hotter w/20's, either way #16 is wrong.

And yes you need two tools
One to lock the flywheel from turning,
and one to remove the old pulley.

Here's a Step by Step with Pictures
Hope it helps
GOOD LUCK

Rob I plan on putting my Tr6 's back in?

not to be negative

I had and exceptional 60ft time on F1's
1.89 is no great accomplishment, even though my best on f1's is in the mid 1.9's.

But since i still can't launch my truck on slicks, who am I to point fingers...........

Well considering it was on a chilly day and I was forced to go through the water box and there was no VHT down...yeah it was exceptional hehe
