Lug help!!

Went to get my brakes changed the other day and when all was said and done they went to put the tires on the front and the lugs didn't fit. The guy called around and said that the rotors that I had on were not factory ones. Said that they were 16 and the new ones were 14. They looked exactly the same and when I placed an old rotor on the new one it matched up exactly. In all of their computers it had nothing for the lightning, the listing came up saying Nascar edition and that is the ones they were trying to put on my truck. Does anyone know if there are different OEM rotor types for the lightnings? If not how to go about finding the same lugs in a different size that look the same? Need help with this, I don't think they know what they are talking about.

I believe the 99&00 Lightnings had 12mm studs originally. In '01 they went to 14mm studs.

mine is a 2000 and the bolt size that was on there was 14mm but the ones they were trying to put on were 12mm and still no luck in finding lugs or rotors that work.

Ok...........my guess is that your truck has had rotors replaced before. I'd say that, in the past they changed to the '01 & newer Lightning style rotors & lugs. Do your rear lugnuts match your front ones????

You either have to go back with 14mm stud rotors, or go and buy the 12mm lugnuts for the rotors that they just installed.

Ford has Lightning lugnuts.

This is the only thing I can think that happened.

The rear does match the front. I just got a call and they said they found rotors with the 14mm bolt size and they will be here tomorrow. Thanks.

Cool!!

My wife is a motorhead.........and just informed me that she thinks the '99 Lightning was the 12mm & that the '00 & newer are the 14mm.

Glad that you're getting it straightened out!!

Happy Holidays

Rick
