Front License Plate?

Hey couple questions, I did a search and im still not quite sure so I appologize if this has been answered but I just got a 2002 L yesterday and just thought about a front license plate, i went to the front and theres just two dimples in the middle, so do some L's have the holes or do they all need to be drilled? also anyone in CA do you have your front plate on? Ive been pulled over in my old car for not having front plates but it would suck to drill holes in the L plus it doesnt look as good. Thanks for any help

They all come with just the dimples. Some dealers drill them for the plate bracket while others leave it up to the buyer. I personally think a front plate detracts from the beauty of a Lightning. If you get hassled allot then you will most likely need to put one on. Another option is to ziptie the plate to the lower grille...

im in Los Angeles, and i say its a MUST to have a front license plate...u wont make it two blocks without getting pulled over...or atleast i havent been able to. Got pulled over once for it with my old jetta, and got two PARKING tickets for no front plate on my lightning...both within the same week. knew several people that got the same ticket...apparently you could get a parking ticket for it every single day until you "fix it", and you have to pay for all of them. Personally i consider "fixing it" as taking the whole damn thing off.

I think thats a great Idea, a bag of zipties is inexpensive and all you need is a few zipties and a pair of little sidecutters in your glove box and you can remove it for shows or whenever you want the cleaner look.
might go a step further and get 4 eyehooks from hardware store and chrome cap nuts fasten to plate, then ziptie through the eyehooks to back of grill and it will look like it's bolted on.
and no unsightly holes if you move somewhere you don't need front plates.

where is LA do you live Amo? I'm not positive since i've never tried, but my guess is in long beach cops wouldn't care. Not positive tho, they're kinda weird about what they do and don't care about.

Here in New york, we are required to have the plate on the front to. But the dealer I bought it from, said they refused to drill, and put the plate on the truck. I don't want it either, so I just have it hanging out in my front window.

I have been pulled over 5 times by the Texas DPS troopers. All 5 times the officers were traveling on a major 4-lane highway going the opposite direction. Each crossed four lanes of traffic to get to me. I have been given 5 warning tickets so I finally got the hint and placed the front plate on the dashboard which I understand fulfills the requirement of being "displayed" on the front of the vehicle as the State of Texas law requires.

Looking at the picture, you can tell the absence of the front plate is rather conspicuous.
