I just got a test mule engine from the Lightning/ GT40 project.
It was tested by ford in an F250 2x4 truck. They did that to test the durability and to disquise it a little. It is a 32 valve 5.4 with 16 32 lb/hr injectors, the engine that I got was one of the original test engines that made 525 hp, and 500 ft/lbs of torque.
This engine was built in early 2000. Makes me wonder what they have running around detroit right now...
There are a lot of things that were hand made on this thing like the fuel rails and the water cross over, since it is the 32 valve the water cross over is like the cobra's, I will post pictures as soon as I can but the engine is in my shop about 30 miles from here.

It almost seems like Ford is going to make the same mistake that Dodge did by throwing their 'supercar' engine into a truck.

its hardly an argument. Isn't this mostly lightning and navigator technology going into the gt40?
And judging by how badly the gt40 has been demolishing the competition in road test so far seems like fords got a pretty good grip on things.
I also think this makes the GT40 a highly appealing car. Not only is it awesome in its core aspects. It's probably cheap as hell to do repairs on it (cheap being relative, but, I'd put 100 bucks saying replacing say . .. . . a coolant tank on a ferrari probably costs more than replaceing a head gasket on a gt40)

I read about those trucks in Hot Rod magazine a few monthes back. Supposedly there are several plane jane white super duties with cowl induction hoods running around dearborn with GT40 powerplants. They said thats the only chassis they could fit the engine in and still keep the rear entry blower.
