Shane,
The wife is getting me the new G-Tech Comp for Xmas
It has the ability to download your runs on a PC. We can use that to at least get a before and after the port job. It also gives RWHP and TQ #'s. I plan on doing this also during my trucks hibernation. Let me know if your are interested.

(1)Will Ford deny warranty if i got it ported? I would think so....but they'd have to pull the blower off to find out so.....maybe not?

(2)Does this add any extra wear/tear to the blower or the engine? Any complications down the road? This is my daily driver, and I want to get more hp out of her, but not at the sacrifice of losing its everyday driveability

(3)To port your blower, you got to send it to them. That means my truck would be inoperable for several days, right? Kinda be hard to pull that off if its my daily driver. Is there like some overnight or over the weekend type deal? Anyone else been in this boat before?

(4)Would you guys reccomend going Kenne Bell or porting the stock eaton? Would going KB mean losing my warranty also?

Thanks!
1. It would be almost impossible for FoMoCo to know unless they took the blower off.

2. Any additional HP adds wear and tear to a motor, Know matter where it comes from

3.Don't know. If you were serious though and posted you needed a blower. There is a lot of guys that put KBs on and have there stock blowet sitting around. you could probaly get one to send it to you and you can send that one to REM and when you get it back you can send the one on your L back to them.

4.Pretty much anything you do will void the warranty.
Since its your daily driver I would not suggest a KB being you cannot afford the down time if any problems occur(since you still have the stock block).
The ported Eaton will give you an extra 30 RWHP on a stock block.
That would be my choice.

VINNIE

This poses a dilema [sp?] for me.I'll get my REM Ported Blower back Wed A.M. [Paul DID tell me it was o.k. to post pics of it!]
As most of you know the HD Blower is Black with 8 chrome Hex bolts around the Snout assembly.
I REALLY want to get some nice Stainless Allen bolts to replace the Hex bolts.Do I dare of will this send up a red flag in the service DEPT?

Dave,

I might have a line on some nice shiny stainless allen bolts for the blower snout...and I'll be your direction tomorrow too! And don't you have some kind of connections with a certain Ford Service Department? Use the Jedi mind trick on them..."Nothing to see here, those stainless allen bolts are stock - now warranty my motor!"

a few more questions... Can you say the ported eaton is more efficient than the stock eaton? Also does it produce any less heat? Paul did say the temps would be decreased but didnt do any tests on by how much yet. Any info on the temps dropping and the efficienty of the blower going up after the port job? Also will this in any way dramaticly decrease the life of the blower? (vs putting a 4# pulley on) Thanks, Shane

To Port and polish has always been a interesting subject.

It is generally speaking all about air flow improvement somewhere in the RPM band. It may hurt power at the bottom end and improve power only at WOT.

Thats why they use airflow test equipment to see at what point the improvement happens and match it to the camshaft profile and gear ratios of the drivetrain.

The whole concept of the supercharger allows for a lot less attention to fine detail than a normally aspirated engine.
Having the air forced in under boost is a big advantage for designers and mass production.
**************************************************
Let's say for example you have a 300HP engine in your truck but it only requires 75HP to push it down the road at 70 MPH.

Now you make some improvements to up the HP by 100.
It still only takes 75Hp to go the same 70 MPH.

So you are not really tapping into that extra HP you added.
When you do get with the program you will accelerate faster. At that point is when you create more heat and stress and shorten the life of your engine.

The bottom line is that if it makes you happy and you want the extra horsepower and bragging rights. Then go for the porting!
The control you have over your right foot is what has the most effect on the life of your engine. The attention you spend on details like porting is what makes the difference between your truck being faster than another stock production truck.

How fast can you afford to go!!!!! All the porting and polishing and bench time won't due you as much good if you have a restricted or dirty air cleaner. Everything works together as a system. To benefit the most from any improvement you have to look at the whole system.

$300 is not a lot of money for 30Hp. If you can feel the difference in the seat of your pants. I would go for it.
GOOD LUCK and Merry Christmas

Anyone have more pics? I saw some pics in a thread called REM blower pics but Jeff said it looks nothing like the port job done by Apten. Does anyone else have pics of the bottom outlet after the port job done by rem?
thanks, Shane

$440+shipping........

After seeing the pics, I'm going Apten.

I'm not FLAMING REM. Apten job looks a whole bunch different.

Plus, 2-3 day turnaround time.

Ported Superchargers

I'm looking forward to having my Supercharger ported through Apten. I definitely think Apten is the way to go for porting.

I think I still may go with REM. I dont mind being without a blower for a week, the trucks down 3 months for winter. $300 is more in my price range. Paul is pretty good with the Lightnings, I'd like to give him a shot. I'll keep you posted.

Just make sure you get the gains they say... There has not been very much posted from people who have the REM porting. I would hate to see you fall short on HP for a couple hundred bucks..:santa:
