I went ahead and ordered from the source I mentioned above. He verified that it had 7 impellars with a shroud. The only thing I don't know for sure is the distance factor from front to rear of the pump for the 6 rib vs 8 rib belt. I have my stock pump in a box so I can measure the two when I receive the Navi pump. He said it was no problem to send it back if it won't work.

Did you get the Navi 7 blade + shroud in? Pics vs. Stock?

Rick,

I got it yesterday. It will fit fine (same exact measurements) and it's aluminum. I took pics to compare but have to be resized and downloaded. I will post them tonight. PM me on NLOC if you want to know where I got it.

Later,
Chuck

Here are the pics I promised of the 04 Navi water pump. These were taken comparing it to my stock 2000 L water pump.

The threads on the end of the Navi pump come with a real thick rubber band stretched over them. I took a pic with the band on and off. I'll paint the parts that stick out in front of the pulley black and put the band back on it.

The Cobra pump next to the stock pump. You can see how much shorter the impellers are.

Thanks, this is interesting my 2000 had a 8 blade water pump.
I have had the "Cobra" one for 5 years, but am thinking of the Navi one now.

I installed the Navi water pump today and did a badly needed flush of my coolant system.

I run a 160 stat and in the past even in 30 degree temps my coolant temp would be 176 degrees while cruising. Tonight it was 79 degrees and the coolant temp stayed at 168 degrees while idling in neutral. I set the parking brake and put it I Drive. I let it idle for 15 minutes or more and the coolant temp never went above 172 degree. It didn't hurt to have a 70/30 coolant mix and a bottle of Water Wetter in for good measure.

Here are the pics:

Comparison of the Cobra pump and Navi Pump:

Not knowing nothing here's my opinion

Obviously the AKA Cobra Pump has a "much smaller impeller".
common sence would tell me, it takes less HP to turn, but also moves less water.

End of opinion

By moving less water you don't get the full benefit of running the colder stat. With the Cobra pump your engine temps are all over the place depending on whether you're idling or cruising down the road.

using the cobra pump is like underdrive pulleys. while it may add a little, i would never want to do anything to reduce the effectiveness of my cooling system. just doesn't seem like a good idea on a hi-po motor.

Agreed,
my opinion was that it moves less water AND THAT IS BAD,
and maybe why I still have the factory Fan and Water Pump
