Front End "Clunk"?????

Hi. I have heard a lot about this clunking noise that Lightnings make and my 03 L is no exception. My previous 02 supercrew did it too but the L does it more. I hear a clunk/snapping sound when I back up and turn. Is this something that I can just ignore or is it super important to get it checked out by the dealer? Please explain to me what this problem is (experienced people) and if it needs to be addressed. Thanks in advance.

clunk

Have a front end shop inject some grease into the ball joints. My 99 clunked for 6 months until I had it checked. They used a hypodermic needle type thing and inserted some grease into the ball joint. I have not heard any clunking since. Skip

What you want is Herb's clunk washers. MANY here have them. I don't personally because I just avoid turning hard enough to make mine 'clunk'.

Do a search for "clunk washers". You'll get the exact info you need.

Good luck.

Get the slotted washers and cam bolts (for alignment after), or have a place weld them in place.
Grease the steering stops.
Grease in the ball joints.

Hopefully you won't have anymore noises.
