Talking Line lock- Will it save our rear ends

Will it save the rear end if I use a line lock instead of power braking while doing a burn out? I know the line lock will not put a big amount of stress on the rear, like power braking dose. But will the rear end still wear out, or not as fast with a line lock?

I assume you are talking about "wearing out your rear brakes" not the rear end.

If you are talking about the brakes on your rear end yes the line locks do save your rear brakes and you can make awesome John Force type burnouts if you don't care about your tires.

Sorry Fordsru, don't mean to hijack your thread, but I have a very dumb questions. Don't laugh at me now, but I was curious what the best way to burn out is on the L, ie heat up the tires for the race? All I ever had is front wheel drive vehicles prior to the L and your help is much appreciated. Thanks!!!

When you warm your tires you usually hold down the brake to keep the truck from moving, this uses the front and rear brakes...which wears on the rear brakes since the wheels are spinning while they are clamped down. The line lock kit allows you to only hold down the front brakes...so your not tearing your rear breaks ups during the burn out. Its a really good idea to have....but I dont warm my tires usually, so I dont worry about it.

What I do is first is lightly press the brakes give it throttle inch up a little then press the brakes a little harder while giving it more throttle as the tires should break losse. After a nice burn out let off the brake, and stay into the throttle to leave a nice patch of rubber.

What about the clutches in the differential will it help in that area.

Thanks,

Go for it!!!!

Tommy produced a super nice no brainer to install line lock kit

He should have made it sooner cause I already had one.

There is less friction on the rear during burnouts with the Line Locks. Holding the rear brakes may promote one wheel burnouts (killing the clutches in the differential). Burnouts are much easier on the driveline with a line lock.

One thing you will need to watch is the tach. It is very easy for it to get away (motor RPM climb very fast).

The short answer to your question is YES.It will definatley save wear and tear on *all* moving rear end parts. Some more than others but it will definatley be worthwhile if you do alot of burn outs.Plus in the long run its not just brakes you will be shortening the life of.You will be saving clutches, calipers from overheating and boiling fluid, and it will actually save your transmission quite a bit too.You got to remember the less strain it takes to turn those tires, the less stress on *all* moving parts,If you want to be technical,Even your engine will be helped.

I have a feeling that if you have a line-lock installed, your warranty will probably come under fire once you take your truck in for service, right?
