MB Quart OR Focal
MB Quart OR Focal
i think next thing I do is upgrade the stereo... Im not real big into the rap bass as much.... i would rather it sound more clear and pure...
anyway, i plan on getting the MTX Thunderform for the rear because of mainly the looks... 2 10"s are plenty for me.. I know MTX probably isnt the best sub in the world, but again, im not so worried about too much bass
so that being said, i would like to get a good component set. I was thinking of getting a 6.5" component set and custom install the tweeters somewhere (by the way, anyone have any suggestions, pics??)
which should I get
Focal 165A 6.5" Component Set
or
MB Quart 216 6.5" Component Set
on ebay, both are basically the exact same price
and now, what is a good quality amp too? i dont know much about stereo stuff..... Rockford Fosgate one of the better ones?

Try to find a shop that has those speakers so you can listen to them. I personaly think the Focals sound to airy but its been awhile since i last listend to them.
For anything but subs i would try to stay away from Rockford.
DIamond Audio, Zapco, McIntosh are some of my favorites.

lol, i know this isnt the smartest thing, but what about this amp? i like it cuz i like the 'looks' of it
would this particular amp be good? its 75w x 4... that could go to 2 components and 2 subs... or is that not enough to the subs??
is there a way i can do the components and the subs with just one amp?

JL Audio 500/1 amp for subs
JL Audio 300/2 amp for front speakers
Eclipse Aluminum 10" or Elemental Design ed0 subs.
Choice of front speakers between:
Focal 165a JL Audio xr650 Kicker Resolution 6cs or Infinity Kappa 60.5cs
Scrap the MTX box and have a shop custom build you a box that will mount the 2 subs and also be able to mount your amps.
Choose a good quality aftermarket headunit from Alpine or Kenwood.
Dynamat (or equivalent) the doors and also some of the floor board if you want to go that far.
This will be one very clean sounding and kick azz sound system
Should easily be under $2000.00 with everything installed. That's if you shop for the product off ebay or the internet. Check out the www.sounddomain.com forum for ideas.
I had a set of MB's in my Lightning. They were great sounding speakers with the Pioneer 7400MP. I'd highly recommend them.

I've got Focal Utopia 165W and I LOVE em.
Here is where I have got the tweeter at

I have a Memphis MC300 powering them (150x2). I also have a Thunderform with two Memphis HP104D subs being powered by a Memphis ST1000D (1100x1). Nice and clean, but I also have the power to turn the subs up and let em burp.
There is a link to more pics of install and stereo in my sig.

If you like the tweets very brite both of these will work well for you. I have used the MB Quart QSD's and thought they where very nice. I have changed them out for a DLS comp set and think they sound a little better. If you have to choose one of these I would go with the Quarts and a Zapco amp.
DIamond Audio for component's..... Eclipse radio..... MTX box will be realy nice for you since your not looking into a big boom... I no for a fact that vinnie has that box.. and i had it and it was just right for me.... Focal Utopia tweeter's are crazy clear.... I also think Kenwood amps are killer..... And just make shue when they wire every thing up it's nice and clean... Tape wires up exc..... Hoope this help's! It worked for me !

Here's one...
Looks good...
Sounds good...

Quick Facts
One look at the MCC404M multi-channel power amplifier and you know it's a McIntosh. There's the traditional glass top panel and those famous big blue wattmeters but, like all Macintosh's, the MCC404M is more than just a pretty face.
A sophisticated MOSFET Pulse Width Modulated regulated power supply is used to create 100 watts x 4, 20 - 20k, at 0.005% THD - all channels driven. Paired channels can be bridged to provide 400 watts x 2 at the same frequencies and distortion levels. Channel configuration is selectable between two, three, and four channel output. The high current output is stable even into 2 ohms. Power is rated using a 12-volt battery.
The fully discrete design features transient turn-on protection, multi-stage thermal protection, and temperature regulated cooling fans. The one-band adjustable equalizer has a variable center frequency of 40 to 2000 Hz, along with both High and Low Pass variable crossover filters. Of course, the legendary McIntosh fully complimentary double balanced configuration is also present.
A summed subwoofer output is derived from the inputs, which are balanced and noise canceling. The subwoofer level can be remotely controlled. Each input has its own level controls and there is an in/out pass through for use in multiple amplifier configurations.
The MCC404M provides flexible, powerful performance geared to the legendary standards of McIntosh. It is built to last, with the kind of sound quality long thought unattainable in a mobile environment. And, lest we forget - Oh Baby, those McIntosh looks. Unlike what they tell small children, this amp deserves to be seen as well as heard.

well still havent decided... i guess i will just see which I can get the better deal on...
i like the way you installed that tweeter... was that hard to do? i was thinking of getting a QForm down by the E-Brake... but that looks sweet... might do it on the other side of the door handle though
my next question is.... an average component set needs about 50w right? i know some can handle up to 165... but 50 or so should work good right? well, instead of buying a 50x2 amp... is there a cd/mp3 player from alpine or someone that puts out 50x2????
