Royal Purple question.

How many miles do you all put on your trucks between oil changes? I am used to putting 5,000 on my old truck using mobil 1. I have heard anywhere from 6,000 to 9,000. If this is wrong please let me know. I have about 1,500 on it now since I went to RP.
Thanks.

I've been using Royal Purple for about a year and try to change the oil every 5 thousand miles...but sometimes more if I've been running it at the track a lot.

I've been using RP's #11(5w20) Racing oil since the 4,000 mile-mark. I change it about every 7-9,000 miles with the K&N Gold oil fiter. It now has 59,900 trouble-free miles on it. No noises--cold or hot.

I also use the royal purple 5w20 and I change it every 5000 miles just easier to keep track of 20,000, 25,000, 30,000 ect. Great stuff I think I may go to the 5w30 it's a little cheaper $4.00 from Jegs vs. $5.69 for the 5w20

I don't recognize the name, but if he goes to the track I've probably met him. There are a few lightnings around campus...but mine's the only true blue I've seen around. What kind of car does he drive?

georgia-SVT,

That's not the synthetic is it? Last time I ordered some, Jeg's had gone up to 8.50/qt for Racing11 (5w-20)

Grimace,

6-9k miles between oil changes with the synthetic would probably be OK if you wanted to push it, but I would stay closer to 5k. Especially if you drive it hard.

Call me crazy, but I usually change mine every 3k miles.

My son goes to Baylor. He drives an 03 black Mach 1. It has silver stripes instead of the stock flat black. He lives in a condo on Bagby about six blocks from campus.

ASVTFordBoy you got me wondering now I hope it is synthetic I thought all Royal Purple was synthetic? I have a quart here it says 5W20 motor oil with synerlec???? But at the top of the bottle says Royal Purple synthetic oil False advertisement????? So is it synthetic or not they may just have a super duper synthetic for racing.
