Odbii 1451 opps wrong board sorry

Getting a check engin light, a friend used his scanner and the 1451 code came up.

I have read this is an "Evap. Emission Control Sys. Vent Control Valve Circuit Malfuntion"

Ok what does this mean? What part need replacment? where is it located?

Tnx.

damaged PCM

most likely canister sileniod need replaced.

you can check the voltage from the vent to the silenoid with key on on position but engine not running. if voltage is less than 1 volt with PID at 0% or PID at 100% and voltage is greator that .5volts it needs replaced.

This DTC is set when the PCM detects Canister Vent (CV) solenoid circuit signal falls below minumum or exceeds maximum allowable parameters for a specified CV duty cycle. Possible causes are:

Vehicle power circuit open, (fuse)CV solenoid circuit open, or shorted to ground, power ground or vehicle power, faulty CV solenoid(most likely), or faulty PCM (least likely)

To properly test, you will need a diagnostic scantool with bi-directional controls.

Connect scan tool, disconnect CV solenoid harness connector, connect a test light between CV solenoid connector and Vehicle power circuit terminals.(you would need a manual to know exactly which wires are what) Turn ignition on and using the scan tools bi-directional controls, try to open and close the CV solenoid while watching the test light, if the test light cycles on and off, the CV solenoid is bad and the computer is good.

You cannot test the CV solenoid only, you must make sure that the computer has the ability to control the CV.

I would guess you have a bad CV solenoid or a blown fuse.

You might want to just clear the code and see if it comes back.

Good luck.
