Cracked foglights......warranty???
LOL, I was just about to make a similar post. I know several people get them under warranty and ford know of the problem.
The thing I want to know is.. Is there a service bulletin or an actual recal on this problem? If so can I find it on the web?
I have to go for an oil change soon and would like for them to do my fog lights at the same time but these being a non SVT dealer and given the fact that there are so few Lightnings around I have a feeling I am going to have to prove this is a known problem.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

I had mine replaced last spring under warranty. They had never heard of the problem and wernt going to fix them but i told them i had a list of people with the problem and ford had fixed theres so they fixed it then
why is it so damn hard to get things warrantied?
I had a few things fixed under warranty. The dealership tried to do a 'you-bet-cha' fix on everything first instead of replacing the faulty parts. They also denyed my cracked foglights a 5k miles.
This is something I dont understand- why would service (Ford) not warranty the defective parts the 1st time - avoiding a 'come back' which hurts their CSI score??? I wrenched at a Nissan dealership for many years and a 'come back' was the baddest thing that could happen. If a vehicle is under WARRANTY, you order new parts and put em on. I dont understand Fords thinking behind no fault warranty denials- could somebody at Ford please explain this??? I think Ford buyers should have the option to buy the new Ford vehicles 'AS IS' with NO WARRANTY at a significant discount. Knowing what I know now- I would have went this route-If there was a choice. FORD WARRANTYS ARE MEANINGLESS
Idont intend this thread to be another 'Ford bashing' session, with the same people take the same sides... I just dont understand why 'no brainer' warranty work-as well as big claims - are such a big problem to warranty?

I had mine replaced at non SVT dealer. Pretty much tried to say rocks from road caused problem. After asking him to explain how bumper wasn't chipped but fog lights were cracked from inside, how could this happen from rocks. He warrantied them. One of them was also 1/2 full of water!!!!
I think prevention is just don't use em in rain/misty weather. Kinda beats the purpose of fog lights.

Had my 02L fog lights changed out about 3 months ago due to cracking from the inside which was covered under warranty. But now 1 of them has lots of moisture on the inside and shot the bulb. Guess I'll get them to change that one again too.

don't even know where to start. You live in milwaukee, home of the AMERICAN IRON, and brag about wrenching on japs cars that claim that they need NO wrenching. You say..............nevermind, Iam wasting bandwidth and my time

BTW.....Back on Topic.......
Iam on my 4th set of foglamps warrantied by my dealer
Gator,
I just paid $120.00 to get my broken fog light replaced. Dealer had no clue re: fog light problem. I was not sure if a rock hit the light. The basic Ford service does leave a lot to be desired. I have had basicaly every problem mentioned on this board. Ford QC is lacking and dealer help is marginal.
I do not own nor have I ever purchased a Japanese vehicle but I would have to concede that their build quality is superior to what my experience has been with Ford, period.

Dont even get me started about Milwaukees american iron. Anywhere you go, in the summer, look at what brand of bikes are broke down along side roads- maybe an occasional ricerocket that has run out of gass-the rest are milwaukee iron. Compare any Briggs/Kohler small engine to what Honda makes- not even in the same league.
Im not an American-made hater- I wish we could produce the quality per dollar vehicles the japs do.
What do cycles and lawnmowers have to do with this thread-nothing.
One thing the jap imports do different though,,, They review their warranty claims,if a part has a flawed design that reaccurs, they revise the part and notify owners to come in and get fixed for free-called it a Recall Campaign. If it was safety related, mileage/ownership didnt matter.
Heres an example- mid 80's nissan fuel injectors -some 10yrs later could leak. 10's of 1000's of injected high mileage -some rust buckets- would get free rentals while new fuel injectors were installed. Now how many GM's of that same era caught fire from rusted fuel lines? Import/domestic who cares? But when cars have design problems, the manufacurer should fix em promptly-not ignore the warranty.
