Stripped Oil Plug!!!!!

When I bought my 03 L, (used with 7,300 miles) It looked like new but the only thing I did notice was some rtv around the oil drain plug. I tend to be overparanoid most times and I was not gonna let that stop me from buying this truck. I kinda knew why the RTV was there when I saw it but thought, "maybe it's just something from the factory....it only had 7,300 miles. But sure enough 2 weeks later when I went to change the oil......BAM!!!!!
COMPLETELY THREADLESS!!! Stripped as hell. Called the dealer and bitched then went to go get a new plug. It went in perfectly and so far, doesn't leak. Has this happened to anyone else and is this finished or may it strip again later because of it already happening once before? Thanks.

Ya it happened to me at the Norwalk FFW, lucky for me they had a parts store there. I replaced the plug and have had no problems since

Eat less Wheaties, no need for the plug to be tightened that tight. Snug is the word, not torqued.

Most likely from Ford or the dealer. They torque the chit out of the oil plug. I put it on real snug with the socket and never had a problem with mine leaking.

If you take it to the dealer to have the oil changed you may find you will have a hell of a time getting it off.

Mine is screwed up too, I really do need to get a new one
for the next oil change, but no leaks or silicone here,
it's just hard as a beach to take out and put back in

Sorry to burst your bubble but this is not new. All vehicles drain plugs are easy to strip. That is why they make oversized ones which are really self threading. Sometimes we need to realize that it is the user/operater that creates problems and not the manufacturer.

I appreciate all the replys....thanks a lot. I did not do this myself though. I bought the truck used with 7,300 miles and the $5.00/hour jackass that does the oil changes at the dealership did it. I see no reason why he didn't just walk his lazy *** over to the parts counter to get a new one. But, either way, it's good to know that I am not the only one this has happened to. Thanks again.

Many times an new darain plag will fix the problem. They are softer than the metal on the pan, so you may just be ok
