Vroom, Vroom !!! Latest MOD

OK, so my new remote start has a channel on it to
open the trunk, which we obviously don't need. Sooooo
I was thinking since when I just remote start the bolt
and people are around they are pretty shocked (because
of the exhaust sound, methinks!) just imagine how shocked
they would be if it would "rev" the way that "Kit" used to?

Well, a solenoid, a relay, and the expert help of one of
Circuit City's best installers (Crazyone!) and I am totally
hooked up now.

Anytime I remote start it, I can just "blip" the trunk
release and I get a very satisfying "VROOM" ...

We basically used 1/4" billet to make a mounting plate that
attaches to the two vacant holes in the throttle cable support
mechanism, and then wired the solenoid to the throttle.

VROOM, VROOM ... They REALLY look around now !!!

Pictures to follow ...

Cliff

PS... I also installed my painted factory side steps tonight ...
Looking pretty tight ... Mirrors and Cowl are next !!!

That's sweet. I need to get a remote starter. It's getting way too cold and I don't feel like scraping the ice off the windshield. What kind of remote starter did you get and where did you buy it. Thanks!

Cool you are obviously not reving that high since most remote starters turn off once they get passed a certain RPM. I think its 2500 on most of the ones I have seen installed.

Cool mod though.. But revving when the truck is cold Tsk tsk

Nah ... I wait til it warms up ...

If you "teach" teh tach signal at about 2500 or 3000 the
autostart will set teh rev limit at about 4200 ... <Sweet>

That's Ubercool!

Do you have to disable the PATS to use a remote start?

Not exactly, they use an overide transmitter in the steering
column to allow the remote to function as if there was a key
in the ignition. It looks like a little thermometer, and you have
to program it with the two keys method just like a real key.

Doesnt that mean that you have permanently disabled the Key security feature of PATS. Since the truck will ALWAYS think it has a valid key in it ?

A buddy has a remote start on his Harley Truck. Its funny watching people jump when they are standing near an empoty truck that starts up

I though about that too. You dont want it rev it for the first couple seconds since its gonna take 2-4 seconds for the oil to pump back to the top. That will just do premature wear. I would love to remote rev it though.
