Relocating Battery

I've been looking at Tim Skelton's web site and I was wondering if optima batteries can be mounted upside down. The reason I ask is because I would like to use this battery mount to put it under my bed. Link If I can't mount the battery upside down then I guess I need to add spacer at the top between the upside down battery mount and the bed. Also how did you guys hook up the factory battery cables to the ones that you ran from the relocated battery? Did you use a junction box of some sort or cut them short and slice the cables together? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

I am pretty sure the Optima battery can be mounted any way you want. Not sure on the wiring.
Intresting post.

I've never relocated the battery in an L before but have done so several times in the mobile audio biz.

Optimas can be mounted in any direction and even in the cab as they don't emit fumes. I would recommend the yellow or blue tops.

Remove the factory wiring and install larger gauge wire from the respective components. Also install fuses/breakers as you have a large section of unprotected wire. Split loom is your friend.

Where would you install/mount the fuses/breakers and where can I purchase those. Anyone have detailed pictures of their engine compartment after relocating their battery? Thanks for the info!

Keep in mind that to race at NHRA Tracks you will need a battery shut off switch with a relocated battery.

Cool, thanks Neal! I was looking at your photo gallery and I was wondering where did you get that small fluid container that is where your windshield washer fluid reservoir should be. Is that what your using it for? Is it easy to mount? What are its dimensions? I would really like to use something like that for my radiator over flow and powersteering reserviors. Thanks!!

Cool

HI!... My Red-Rocket : The bottle is from JAZ. I'm using it as a washer fluid bottle but it had to be pretty modded before use. I also had to construct a braket to mount it from aluminum. Here's a link to the JAZ website :
