trade in value of the L??

What are people getting at the dealer for trade in? I got a 2000 L in good shape 40K miles. *stock* I know I could get more if I sold it through a want ad, but with my work I don't have that kind of time. Also, I had a dealer tell me he can do a truck at invoice or below. If I do this, are they going to rape me on the trade???

well....I may trade her on a rattle can motor (power stroke diesel)

I won't be done racing, I'm building a AC Cobra replica, and I may either buy a gen1 or if money stays good a genIII when they come out.

Edit: All I want in life is a car that pulls the front wheels off the ground, is that too much to ask??

Re: trade in value of the L??

Kelly Blue Book says $18,085.00 for trade in. Around here, some dealerships are offering KBB + $5,000.00. So somewhere between 18-23K.

If you get a great deal from the dealer on the new one. The'll make up the difference on the trade in. IE.. bend over

This is a guess, but a 2000 with 40k is probably gonna trade for somewhere in the $16g - $18g range at the dealer. Of course this depends on where you live. Once again, no flames please, this is an educated guess.

I hate car dealers -when I bought the L on an X-plan it was a whole new experience. Went to see them about trading it in on a Cobra awile back and it was the same old crap. I won't even talk to a dealer unless I have something like an X-plan, I truly don't have the time or energy to play the "break you down until you don't care" game they all pull.

They offered me $21K on a 2001 L w/28k miles.
22"'s, full exhaust, 2" drop and a nice scratched up bed!..but ofcourse wanted over MSRP for the Cobra....I passed.

Who's Cobra kit are you building? FFR?

You are absolutley correct.ACV (real trade in) is between 16-18k.Some would expect more and for those that do remember, real #s dont change but they can make it look like you are getting 22k for it but I promise youll be paying sticker for the new truck....

For the person with 22s and all that. That is the LAST thing dealers want to see or take in trade. They want stock looking vehicles not bling blingers.Take it from me,I am a dealer

I never trade in a vehicle. You get screwed on trade-ins. If it's a nice vehicle you can sell it privately for no more effort than putting an ad in the paper and come out thousands ahead. Usually the first person who comes to look at my used vehicle, goes home with it.

Rk No flame taken...Thats why I asked, I knew they will try to stick it to me, I just want an idea of how bad. I may try to sell independantly. I would like 20.

Flord....yup FFR. Its kind of a no brainer decision with them being under an hour away. There are nicer kits, but I don't want nicer, I want to flog the wee out of it on road coarses and the drag strip!!!!

I should move the NE. Dealerships around here are offering 13-14. My '99 with a built motor will be sold next week for less than 20.
