I've noticed the same feeling (doesn't feel fast) and I think some of the guys above have probably hit on the issue (sit higher up, working with torque instead of outright HP). Another issue I think is momentum. These things are so heavy that despite 0-60 times of 5.2 seconds, they just don't leap out when you nail it. It takes a second or so to overcome momentum and then it just torques out and pulls hard and harder. I got on mine the other night in first gear with my wife in the truck and afterwards I commented that it runs pretty good but doesn't feel as strong as some other cars. She said it felt strong to her and really pinned her in the seat and she felt like the acceleration was trying to force the skin back on her face (temporary face lift?). In contrast I have literally had people scream and wildly flail around trying to grab something in my 66 427 Corvette (4:11 gears) when I've been cruising down the highway at about 60 and without warning floored the throttle in high gear. Instead of pushing you into the seatback, it literally throws you into it and leaps out. I think it's all in overcoming momentum. My 2 cents.

You're right, you're spoiled on speed! My truck is fast, but it feels slow as a turd when I get in it after I ride my Hayabusa. Also, being higher up, having an automatic transmission, etc. reduce the sensation of speed. It doesn't feel as fast as my Cobra was, but the timeslips say it is...by a lot!
