Custom Powered Antenna Install Done

Got my Metra Powered antenna operating finally. Modified the stock antenna base to act as a cover until I get the truck repainted.

I've been wanting to do that for a while. Can you give some details on it?

What kind of details?
Most people won't do this mod as you have to cut fender supports to install the antenna. This pic should give you an idea of the quantity of work required.
Just getting the fender off is a pain in the azz!

Awesome mod. This is the first time I've seen someone be successful in pulling this off. I looked into it a long time ago and backed out after seeing the amount of work that would be involved to do it... now, after seeing the amount of work that you put into it (the sawzall says it all), I'm glad I didn't try.

Top notch mod though!

Thanks, some of us don't know any better, we will attempt anything ... well almost anything!

The more time I get to work on my truck, the less I have to spend with the women!

It's not the main support.

To get the fender off you will need to first remove:
- Headlights/Corners
- Front Grill/HeadlLight Surround
- Wiper Cowl
- Passenger Side Wheel Well

Now all the bolts you will need to remove will be exposed.
The 2 I kept forgetting are located just to the lower left from the sawsall yellow blade in the first pic. You can tell where they are located by the light grey metal squares.

You will also need to remove the small ground effect piece to get to another bolt located underneith. There are 3 to 4 bolts in the engine compartment and one located below the front headlight. If the piece seems like it is stuck, you probably have forgot a bolt. Take your time and be gently.

The best advice I can give is to open the passenger door and stick a large towel covering the front edge and wrap the rest around the outer door surface. When you close the door make sure the towel stays in place. This will prevent you from damaging the paint when you remove the fender.

VERY IMPORTANT as the front of the fender is hard to dislodge and will cause the rear of the fender to move backwards scratching the paint.
