Shipping a Lightning? Does it work and how expensive?

Hello everyone,

I have a possible buyer for my Lightning, however the person is in California and I am here in Massachusetts. The buyer knows me personally and is the reason for the long distance sale. They know the truck has been taken care of and not beat on.

Anyway, has anyone had any luck shipping a truck across the country? Does anyone know of any good companies to ask, about how much are we looking at, and how long does it take?

Is there anything that I can do on my end to ensure that the truck is not pulled off the trailer at some point in the trip and beaten on? Could I pull say one plug wire and make the truck run like junk?

Thanks for any help guys!

John

That would be kinda hard . ( there are no plug wires)

I was once quoted $875 to bring my L from New Jersey to Indiana (about 600 miles) from Horseless Carraidge. I know they are very reputable.

My brother has been involved with moving hundreds of special vehicles in the past several years and cannot say enough good things about:

Reliable Moving & Storage Co
41555 Koppernick Rd
Canton, MI 48187-2450
Phone: (734) 453-6677

Moving autos in enclosed trailers is all they do. They have hundreds of trucks with competent drivers. Michigan is their headquarters, but they also have offices in Florida and Arizona.

If it has a chip, have your tuner burn it or just one side to set the rev limiter for "Valet" mode so that it can't go over 2500 rpms or something.

I say just drive it, it'll be fun, and at 140 mph it should only take you a day

I've used DAS quite a few times. www.dependableautoshippers.com. They're cheap, but be sure to make sure and warn them about the front end scuffing. They'll **** it up for sure if they can...

my buddy mark at www.performanceautosport.com makes a living out of buying and selling used Saleens, specialty mustangs and even a few Lightnings. he ships and receives vehicles from all over the country and occasionally overseas. give him a call if you want his .02 on who to deal with that's can be trusted to take care of your baby.

I have had 2 Porsches shipped from CA to NJ and a company called Autotrail did a great job. Prices range from 900.00 for open carrier to 1600.00 for a closed carrier. They will do a full exterior inspection at pick up and drop off and are fully insured while truck is on carrier. Good Luck!!!
