SVT PROGRAM UPDATE

Purpose

The following information is being provided to help dealers plan their 2004MY (model year) SVT sales strategies.

Background

The recent introduction of the new F-150 and the upcoming replacement of the Mustang have generated inquiries from customers and dealers regarding plans for SVT derivatives of these new models.

SVT Product Cycle Plan

2004MY will be the last year of production for the current generation of SVT products, including the Cobra, Lightning and SVT Focus. 2004MY production of all three products will end during the second quarter of the 2004 calendar year. There will be no 2005MY versions of the Cobra, Lightning or SVT Focus. The rollout of the next generation SVT Mustang Cobra and SVT F-150 Lightning will begin with the 2006MY. At this time there are no plans to introduce a replacement for the SVT Focus. Information on the 2006MY SVT products will be released at a later date.

SVT Dealer Program

Although there will be no SVT vehicles produced for the 2005MY, the SVT dealer program will be in place and operational to meet service and other needs of current SVT customers. Dealers will continue to receive SVT support, including the SVT InfoCenter (1-800-FORD-SVT), www.svt.ford.com and merchandising materials. The SVT Premium Service program and the SVT Owners Association will remain operational, and SVT will continue to maintain a presence at enthusiast events. Information on dealer enrollment for the 2006 MY SVT program will be communicated at a later date.

Standard Launch Timing

The SVT versions of the next generation products are on a standard development and launch timing plan—they have not been delayed. The actual timing of SVT derivatives is driven by the timing of the vehicle programs on which they are based. The timing of the 2006MY SVT products is consistent with past practice.

Future SVT Programs

The level of unique engineering and content in SVT vehicles has been increasing virtually every year since SVT was created. Indeed, the change to new platforms and assembly facilities for the new F-150 and Mustang will make these programs the largest and most complex in SVT's history. However, these outstanding new platforms will provide the opportunity to enhance not only the performance, but also the quality, craftsmanship, and overall refinement of the SVT product lineup. This, along with the unique expertise SVT has developed in over ten years of operation, will ensure the next generation of SVT products will be the most exciting ever, and will continue to dominate the performance landscape for many years to come.

We encourage you to share this information with your sales and service teams and with your SVT customers. If you have any questions, please contact the SVT InfoCenter at 1-800-367-3788 (1-800-FORD-SVT). However, please remember that that we are unable to release any information on 2006MY SVT products at this time.

figures . . .. well it's fine by me, just hope they launch without any issues, i think its a good thing that they have the 5.4 blocks out in the field awhile before anything goes on with getting extra performance out of it. We don't want a 97 4.2L incident.

Since the SVT lineup has been profitable for papa Ford, I'm sure they are taking a step back and will come out with some better products in 06. My biggest fear is that they will loose sight of what we all *really* want. Good old fashion bang for the buck that a working stiff can park in his driveway.

Just my 2 cents, WOT

Actually it says they will end production sometime during the 2nd quarter of 2004. That means by the end of June, none of the current SVT vehicles will be produced anymore until the 2006's are released. It also says no plans for a Focus, but I would expect some sort of SVT SUV to be in the plans.

Gen11 reign.

I think this is awesome news. I did NOT want to be the big dog for only a year, and then have Ford come out and drop the hammer with the Gen III. I like having the baddest truck Ford has for a couple more years. Prolly like 2 years to be exact. Very cool.

ya i think its a good idea to have zero production for a year for those that just bought their truck....granted its not profitable and many people want to trade but its nice still having the "new" truck until the gen 3 comes out

Personally, i am very glad.It will give me time to pay off my 02 and also add a 94-95 Lightning to my garage.I will have one of each generation by the time the 06-07 comes out.I just hope the enviromentalist dont kill it before it arrives. This high performance era cannot last forever you know.Nothing would make me happier then to have 1 of each generation lightning in pristine condition sitting for sunday drives.

I don't see Ford sitting out on the SVT Focus project or some little "hot hatch" derivitive. I mean everyone is getting in on the import and "domestic import" craze...Saturn is coming out with a 200hp+ 4 banger for crying out loud! I saw a picture in MM&FF of a couple foci that Ford was messing around with that had a cowl hood and maybe somesort of forced induction...so that one I don't quite think Ford is gonna leave out of the loop.

'01's wife here.

Actually, I believe that MY2006 can begin in Jan '05. This is just over a year from now. In some of the interviews with Colletti and Scarpella, they have made mention of the next gen Lightning being available in about a year.

Thus, my prediction is that it will be available in January '05, as an '06 model.

Expect the '06 Cobra to be available around April or May of '05, as the '05 Mustang is expected to appear around April or May of '04. This would be the 1 year differential.

On a side note.............. I kick myself upside the head for selling my '94 Lightning. At the time it was a necessity (due to 9/11 basically destroying our business). Yes, I was the original owner............ and miss that truck every day.
