Is it possible to remove the stock antenna without taking off the hood or front quarter panel? If so please let me know or point me in the right direction

To remove the whole thing is a pain...

You could just unscrew it...

Yes you can, here is the procedure:
1) unscrew the antenna
2) use a small screwdriver and pop the plastic shell off of the base
3) Remove the 4 exposed screws
4) the antenna wire can be pulled into the cab from under the dash on the passenger side.
