KB Question
I use my truck as a daily driver and I was just wondering if it is possible to bolt the KB supercharger right on or do you need to do a complete engine swap out? Also what is the power with a KB blower and a 4lb pulley? Is it safe to drive daily with that mod? just a couple of questions thank you for your help.
Without a built block I think the magnum powers is more what you are looking for.
Remember the KB is much more efficient than the eaton. so at 12# on a KB is like 17# on an eaton.
OK maybe not 17# but pretty close. which necessitates a built block

different sizes.
don't want to sound like a jerk,
But if you search here and NLOC.NET
this has been discussed inside out and EVERYTHING you want to know is there.

I run the KB on my stock block. Here's the deal. The KB is capable of producing more power at a given boost level than the Eaton. A KB can be successfully run on a stock longblock truck reliably, as long as you don't get overly aggressive and push the boost(and thus power levels), beyond the capabilities of what the stock block can handle. Also, it helps to be a little more conservative in reference to your driving habits....ie..."kick downs", sustained "top" end runs etc...etc.
I'm running between 14 and 15 psi with a 2lb lower and 3" upper pulley combination, and I feel I'm pushing my luck a little. We have my shiftpoints set at 5200rpm to further reduce the amount of stress placed on the connecting rods and also have the tune dialed back a couple notches for further insurance.
So, to answer your question....No, you do not HAVE to have a built motor to enjoy the benefits a KB has to offer.....AS LONG AS you don't push it too far. However, in order to FULLY take advantage of what the KB is capable of, a built bottom end is, at the very least, a DEFINITE prerequisite!
The only other thing I'd reccomend is "efficiency" mods...ie...E-fan, heat exchanger, Long Tubes etc...etc. These will free up some HP, while making life a little easier on the stock internals. Hope this helps.

Man, every time I hear something about KB, it makes me want to get one myself, and I'v only had my truck for only a month.
Not even had its oil changed yet.
But it be better if I work on regular mods first I guess.

Just like SLVRNBLK said, re the KB.
Keep in mind, there are a number of choices and opinions on after market super chargers, just make sure you do your research and most importantly make the decision of "how far do you want to take you L as far as performance?". That is the key in my opinion to making the right decision for you and your application.
I am a KB owner and believer so take this for what it is worth. I personally bought the KB due to the fact I want, over the long run, to build a kick a$$, high boost, built lower - L. And the efficiency and potential of the KB was the attraction for me, especially at high boost applications.
Currently I run 16lbs of boost with 14 degrees timing, 5200 shift point and my a/f levels perfectly at 12.1 in the mid to high rpms. I am producing 496/562 and yes I am pushing it, but I feel that I am still relatively safe. In my opinion once you get into the mid 500's hp you are flirting with the big boom on a stock block.
Even though I have future plans for my L, I am extremely satisfied with it's current performance levels for the street!
If you are leaning towards the KB you can't go wrong. The product is solid and has a proven track record, the KB staff is knowledgeable and awesome as far as warranty, plus you have a wealth of information on this sight to refer to. O.K. enough pushing the product I believe in.
Like I said, do your research - you will hear the good and bad about every blower on this form. And to answer the one question, yes you should be fine with a KB and an extra 4lbs of boost, easily!
Good Luck on your decision!
