superfords takes another field trip! underground racing in Charlotte, North Carolina

Hey guys, it's like 6:50am. I left Richmond VA at 2:30 this morning. I'm sitting in the lobby of a hampton inn in Charlotte North Carolina waiting for my buddy Mark from www.performanceautosport.com to wake up (he drove down yesterday afternoon). We made the trip down to visit a friend's performance shop.

we are visiting www.undergroundracing.com to use the dynojet and test some things on one of mark's Saleen mustangs. I am going to run the Lightning as well and see what kind of numbers she's going to put down.

I haven't dyno'd since the truck was bone stock except for the JDM long tubes and exhaust with like 1000 miles on the odo.

EDIT: UPDATE! I'm home, scroll down this thread to see the numbers and the pictures!!!

oh, on a funny note, I drove at night to avoid traffic and make quicker time. I was cruising along at around 90mph most of the way. I got around Durham N.C. and I suddenly remembered that my liscense is revoked in North Carolina right now!

I got a ticket while vacationing in Nags Head N.C. last July 4th! somebody called the cops and told them I was drag racing down the beach road! I'm sure I was moving along, but I wasn't racing anybody. the beach was packed and traffic was bumper to bumper. some old lady heard my exhaust and had a panic attack and called the cops on me. somebody with too much time on their hands I suppose. anyway, they pulled me over and didn't have anything on me so they gave me a stupid seatbelt ticket. I never paid it, now VA is threatening to revoke my liscense too if I don't pay the NC ticket! what a bunch of B.S. I guess I better take it easy for the rest of the trip huh.

anyway, I've gotta run.

later,
chris

That d@mn reciprocity... Would be nice to not have to worry about minor infractions in other states...

Had a ticket in WV that haunted me in Missouri... fortunately I don't ever remember seeing the points follow me.

I got a stupid ticket for underage drinking when I was at NC State, but I never paid the damn thing. I transferred schools soon after that and have never really been back down there since. I have never heard anything else about it, so I figure all is well. On the other hand I would hate to get pulled over down there and have to pay the accumulated interest for the original fine.

Good luck with your dyno results! It will be nice to put down some new base numbers prior to installing your incredible number of new parts. Granted you can't really compare the numbers from two different motors, but it would still be nice to have good before and after results.

Don't be surprised if there is a warrant out for your arrest. They won't be actively looking for you, and it doesn't expire. No joking. Many times infractions like that are overlooked by the individual, but then an innocent stop for a minor infraction leads to an arrest. The cop that pulls you over won't even know what the warrant is for, but will probably haul you down to jail and tell you to work it out with the judge.

Anytime I see people driving w/o seat belts I call the cops. The way I see it is I am my brothers keeper. Just call me Saint easter.

a quick plug for the guys at www.undergroundracing.com or (704) 361-3443

Kevin and K.C. were great, they have an awesome facility.

They were cool enough to let me run for free today because we know them, but their normal rates are:

$60 for 3 runs w/ air fuel

or $150/hr with tuning for autologic, diablo, or superchips

only one strap in the back? Is that normal? Looks like your truck would pull right off of that

not me....

oh, and here are my numbers from this morning.

not too bad for the eaton...

433HP & 550FT/LBS

using factory tech's 11% loss that equals 480hp & 610ft/lbs!

this was with my mail order chip, the air fuel was like 10:1 if I remember correctly. I'll be saving all of the runs to a disc to bring home with me to review.

I suspect that there is some more power to be gained with some tweeking.

later,
chris

That's a lot of information to put out here considering your VA tag "ZO6 THIS" is clearly visible in your photos and quite easy to remember. There may be one or more NC law enforcement officers with F150's who stop through here now and again. For example the NC State Trooper with the SCREW that lives right down the street from me here in Charlotte!
