Is that the 4x4 pan for the $37? Did you inquire about the filter?

If you have any interest (related skill) in working for the newspaper in Gainsville (I don't know how close you are) I can provide a reference for you, we own the paper, - glad to help a fellow L owner if I can.

Thanks Max for responding....actually I did not pay for the tow...
Called Ford Roadside Assistance and they covered the bill since it's still under warranty...Max, the curb you see in the first picture is the curb I "carefully" drove over...I tried fitting my body under the L and almost got stuck (how would I explain that to the 911 guys if I got really stuck?)......and I dont have any safe heavy duty
drive up stands...I also wanted to be sure that there was not any further damage underneath so off to the dealer we go...

Sorry to hear about the pan, but glad it wasn't too pricey.

Good point!

It's better to be safe than sorry later on down the road. Hope all goes well and you get your truck back on the road soon.

No, it's the regular stock pan for $37.00. Since they have the truck
and it's almost time for the 30,000 mile service told them to go ahead and flush the transmission/torque converter...it's suppose to be about 187.00 for pan/filter/mercon fluid and thankfully didn't have to pay for the tow....Dan is this job related to computers?...I am a computer security engineer...plus can build and maintain corporate networks etc...please let me know.

Thanks for the words...and since you want to know about the girls

Hey Max, I'm very particular about my L and since I dont have some of the equipment you guys have I rather be safe than sorry...since sat afternoon the trans leaked 1/2 gallon of Mercon and I really did not have any idea how much I lost driving the 8-10 miles drive home...after driving over the curb the truck "seemed" ok as witnessed in my last photo.

I don't have any specifics on a particular job, per say. Typically in the newspaper business there are variety of needs from an employee point of view. You would need to call the newspaper and talk to the Human Resources department to determine if any jobs were available in your field. All of our newspapers have an IT department and "Help Desk" group so-to-speak that focus on technology and meeting the needs of all departments. Technology is present more so than ever in newsprint. Literally every department relies on computer related technology.

Having a Gannett employee as a reference is a big plus, that's where I would come in.

Just let me know if you need any help, dpearson@fortmyer.gannett.com

My truck is very low and I measured and found that the 4R100 trans pan is dangerously below the frame at the front where I have bumped before I switched from the 4R70W which is not as low.

I solved the problem by building a custom aluminum pan, only cost me about a grand in labor. It is a filter hugger at the front, even with a Filtran filter but hold about 1/2 quart more than the stock pan since it gets deeper toward the rear. Yes, I put a flippin drain plug in it.

Fast Gator:

Thankfully they overnighted the new trans pan to the dealer. The pan came in this morning. My dealer did exactly as promised so they deserve that credit...At 27000 miles my fluid looked pretty
clean...they put on a new pan, filter and seal, trans gasket, 8 quarts of Mercon......labor and parts $178.00...I consider myself lucky that did not have more serious damage AND no more curb jumping for me...besides no charge from Ford for the flatbed tow.
I was with the tech during the whole show.....while there at least 5 techs told me not to use Gastrol GTX 5w20 oil......all of them felt the Motorcraft 5w20 was simply a better oil...I've used Gastrol for a LONG time....mabe it's time for a change...what kind of oil are you using? After leaving the dealer took the beast for a little run...
with a new filter and fluid actually seems to shift a little sharper or cleaner. So far everything seems ok....I'm happy just to get my L back...It's strange every time it's been in the shop overnight I get L withdrawal...It's like you dont have your buddy with you.
Thanks Gator for the trans pan offer BUT doubt you would ever send it....remember that clear liquid in a nice jar you promised me a year ago...huh?!....I've been waiting every day for it BUT NO it
NEVER COMES.....whats wrong..is your UPS girl mad at you?
Thanks for the good wishes....G_M......

madferraristi:

Lighnings ARE surprisingly low to the ground (trans pan to ground)...Got a photo of your custom pan...like to see it.

GM: I've been using Royal Purple's #11(5w20) Synthetic Racing oil since 4,000 miles. I now am at 59,500 miles with no eng. noises(cold or hot) and no internal problems. I use K&N's Gold oil filter. I get the oil from Jegs, 12 quarts at the time. Their oil is 'pricey' but great stuff. If the RP is too high then I would switch over to Mobil 1's 0-20w Syntetic oil.
