Biggest B.S. car story you've been fed?

So who have you met in your travels that likes to talk like they know all about cars and trucks, but of course they are a flippin' moron and get all the facts wrong and talk themselves into a corner. Heres my starter story, met this guy at a job years back and so we kinda start talking racing and other junk. Well he tells me that he had a big lifted shovy that was so fast this one time he was cruisin' up I-5 doin' about 30 MPH over the speed limit and this cop used radar on him. Well the cop didnt come after him because most people dont know that those gun's measure RPM too and he wasnt near tached out so that cop knew there was no way he could catch him. Oh and if he did catch him all you have to do is pull far enough off the road that they can't park behind you because then they can't ticket you. Most people don't know that ya know.

I was driving my lightning, pulled into a store, some guy comes up to me and talks about my L. He tells me it's got a 5.0 out of the old mustang, souped up.
I told him nope 5.4 mod motor.
He laughed and told me I didn't know what my truck had for a motor.
So I popped the hood.
He said I must have had the engine swapped out, because he knew his fords.

I told him he was right, but not to tell anyone, because I was looking to make some money street racing that weekend.
He said OK and walked away, I went shopping and bought dog food.

had a buddy that told me whenever he gets his new block for his SLOWmaro (like an early 90' camaro rs) that he was going to walk me all day long at the track. needless to say, he never got it, and still swears that he will beat me.

me> 2001 gt that had 370@ the rear wheels, and a 1.8 60' with the traction contol on. i trapped with the traction control on at 113mph. only managed a 13.2 though. the other times, i spun to much, i got sideways at 60-70mph and almost took out my rear bumper. this was accomplished on nitto 555r 315 dr's. oh yeah, i drove 2 1/2 hours to the track b/f it. yeah, it would have been reaaaaalllllllll close. TOOLBAG..... he also had a 87 honda civic that he thought was fast and always bragged about beating the damndest things, like a JEEP, VW, etc....so in heart he was really a ricer.
what an idiot

By FAR the biggest BS story I have ever been told. This is 100% true, I swear to all that is holy I am not making this up.

So one afternoon I am getting moms benz washed and decide to walk around while its finishing up. Well I come up on the indoor detail section of the car wash and there are about 5 guys in there working on various cars. Im with a friend who is a ricer and he notices a prelude I think it was that was sitting to the side. One of the workes saw him looking at it and came over to us. Turned out the lude(as they like to call it) was his. So my friend asked what mods it has. The guy lists off a few things then finally says "Warm Air Intake"?????????
So I say "you mean cold air intake right?" He says no, warmn air intake. He said that an asian dude showed it to him. He said "yea those asian guys know their ****." I just stood there and listened to this guy, I wasnt going to argue with him.

Can you believe the crap that guys think they know?

Distant cousin of mine says that he ran 7 seconds in the quarter mile with a chrysler sebring convertible. I ask him if it had a cage and he says "no". I ask him how quickly they got tossed off the track. He then replies that "we weren't racing at the track, that's for pussies, we did it on the street with stopwatches". I roll my eyes and walk away. Mistergadget was there for that conversation and i'm sure can add some colorful commentary.
later,
John

My favorite story, from down south Jersey Riding with my brother, and see an old F150 on the side of the road by a house. Stop to talk to the fellow about it. He then starts bragging about his son's truck (a Chevy 1500 there in the driveway, cosmetic mods) that runs "mid 13s and consistent 14s". umm, ok. So my brother mentions "Yeah, Brian has a 14 second truck right there", pointing to the L. Fellow takes a gander "Ah, well, that ain't a Lightning!" My shoulders hunch... here we go. "You see, the real Lightnings have stroked 351s and a C6 tranny, that's what they test on the strips to run 14s. The kind you buy at the dealer is only a weak 351 that runs 16-17s." Knowing I can't battle with this, and possibly win, I divert the topic, and we get onto R/Ts. "Oh yeah, same thing there. The _REAL_ R/Ts had Hemi engines and 6 speed shifters, not those pansy ones that you see running around here." I then made some excuses and high-tailed it out of there.

He said the guy is running 9s... Wow, what kind of boost? 35 lbs on the stock supercharger... Wow, I said that must be some kind of awesome motor he was running eh? He said, no, it was the stock block. I said man, that must be awesome fast, paid for my tires, and left. 35lbs. Stock Block. 9s. Yeah.

A guy told me in the bar on Sunday that he had an old F250 that ran 11's. I'm like wow, what was in it. He said 460 with "Indy heads" and a cam. Those mods must of gave it like 400 extra horsepower at the wheels

Theres a lady at work that has a Durango. Chip + Exhaust = about 500 HP. Well I just try to avoid that subject but she does like to talk about her Harley bike, but I don't know bikes so I wonder what bad info I'm picking up?
