When you pull off the supercharger to clean the intercooler you will see the flakes.

Im on my 2nd, my 1st had flaking after 15,000 miles. I will be pulling the blower off in the next few weeks and wonder what I might see after 6000 miles.

Hey Guys-

Me too, at 2300 miles!!!

Got a new one, under warranty.

Replaced it 1200 miles later with the KB.

It was flaking already!!!

The coating is junk, period.

Wouldn't have anything to do with over-spinning / over-heating the blower would it?

No ... It has to do with adhesion qualities of coatings and
the application of said coatings.

I have 40 year old frying pans that look better than my
1 1/2 year old Eaton impellers !!!

What harm is done if the coating comes off, and the intercooler is cleaned out? Can it be run that way? I noticed that the rotors on my '99 were flaking at 30,000 miles when it was replaced for other reasons under warranty. Haven't looked at my 2002 yet.

Mine looked new at 35 k miles.... its a 2000.

Clonetek = daaamn...your IC looked pretty bad , mine was really brown from the oil problem...but didnt have any black in it like that.

I wonder how often we should be checking our IC/rotors ...every 30-40k maybe?

Okay...if that's so, why aren't we all experiencing it? Is it limited to certain years? Did Eaton change the coating/application at some point? What's the downside, reduced intercooler efficiency?
