Hemi with very little mods does 14.02@95mph

Not trying to start any flame wars here, but I thought you guys might like to see this. I know many will raise a BS flag on this one, but hes had several members on the following site goto the track with him and has the timeslips to prove it.

http://dtw.truckmoxie.com/forums/topic.ten?id=67389

today my 03 hemi longbed slt loaded 3.92 gears stock tires with tailgate on ran 14.02 at 95.19 mph in the 1/4 mile it went 8.876 at 77.53 mph in the 1/8 ....60f was 2.013 .and i dont run juice but if i did i know my truck will run in th 12s next time this truck will run in the 13s easy on motor...i have my time slips but dont have a scanner..if i can get a scanner i will post my times......i guess the ford guys wont like this they think my truck will only run 15.9s but it will soon run 13.9s let me see a 04 f150 run those times
Hes got a flowmaster 40 series and a home made cold air intake. He lowered his tire pressure, made sure it was cold when he ran and he disabled the torque managment system which is good for .5 seconds in the 1/4 mile. The guy apparently has been drag racing for about 20years and knows his stuff.

That said, its still not as fast as a Lightning but its a hell of a lot closer, and it would catch some Harley's off guard.

Enjoy.

Its nowhere near a stock or slightly modified L, but respectable times nonetheless.

It may suprise a HD truck, but the 4 people sitting in the HD can give out two more 's than the Ram occupants.

He said he had other mod's? Not just an exhaust, tmr, and intake.

His 8.87 at 77mph doesn't make any since for a 13.0 1/4 mile. If so its all in the last 660 ft. Hemi got no gut

My mistake he said 14.0 so I stand corrected

A 8.8 should have him down in the 13.8 range; I can't believe he losses that much on top end. The only one I have seen at a track was an short wheel base with the 20's that ran a 9.8 in the 1/8th

Its all about areo dynamics. You know how big the front ends on those rams are, after 70mph its like driving a house down the road. Compared to the Lightning its a freight train. That's why its losin so much on the top end, it isn't the engine. Gotta remember this is a hemi and they are all about power on the top end, not down low.

Anyone else notice that what he said and what the slip showed are 2 different things?

Interesting.

edit: Looks like I didn't read down far enough. the 14.02 slip is there... Some are saying that it's not even his slip though... lol

who cares? hemi schmemi. there's no chance in hell of a stock one touching a stock lightning, so it doesn't matter.

Your right stock hemi will not catch a stock L, but a slightly modded one will put up a decent fight.

In the new Mopar magazine they have an article on an outfit that is putting packages together for the Ram Hemi which includes a Kenne Bell supercharger and other parts. Suppose to put out about 515hp. It hasn't been finalized yet, but supposedly this package will be available form your local Dodge dealer. It's a take off from the early days of the Super Bee. It's a cheaper, but more powerful alternative to the SRT-10. I know Joe Gibbs Racing and a few others have put together packages for the Chevy SS that will compete with the Lightnings. I say the more performance trucks out there, the better it is for everyone.
