Insuring a Lightning

Ok, I am getting serious about getting a new ride. I am wondering, when you go to get full coverage insurance on a Ford Lightning, is it like insuring a sports car(i.e. Mustang GT) or just like a 2w4 Ford F-150?

Depending on your company it may show up as a seperate listing from the normal F150. For comparison sake my 2001 GT was a symbol 22 while the lightning is a 15. (The lower the number the better). I just got the Lightning this week so I don't know what the difference will be in my payment, but it should be significant. Hope this helps.

i'm 18. i have a 02 BMW that costs 375 a month but my Lightning only is only 154 per month and it shows up on the statement as "SVT" dont know if that helps. I know it will be much lower with a older more experienced driver. Go for the Lightning

Thanks guys. I am considering a 99 or 01 Cobra vs a 01 or 02 Lightning. I am leaning towards the Lightning because I love that supercharger whine(can't afford an 03 Cobra) and I figure it will be much cheaper to insure. I am 21 years old with one ticket. I might just have to call my insurance company tomorrow and find out.

I have a 99 gt and a 99 lightning. I sold a 98 4x4 off road f150 to buy lightning. When I did my insurance dropped 50 dollars every 6 months. Hope this helps...btw...go with the lightning, you won't regret it.

Allstate is my company they ran the VIN# and knew it was a SVT L. It is priced like a truck just a little more. Not near as much as a sports car.

Just as long as you do not live in MASSACHUSETTS or some left wing northeastern state you're insurance will be nice and low.

did I mention that mass is the worst state to live in , in the USA as far as LAWS, costs of living and insurances are concerned?

excpet for old folks who can live off free health care and **** becuase the working pay for them ocmpletely. Nice bs.

State farm on my L. It was the best price at the time and still is for a 16 year old.

Moving from FULL coverage on my 00' Celica to a 03' Cobra = $40 a month
Moving from BASIC to Full on my 02' L = $40.00 a month
Not an exact comparison but a good start.

On my insurance card, the truck shows up as a normal F-150 regular cab 2wd. It does not say SVT anywhere or hints to it beinging a performance truck or anything like that. I pay $1720 a year for it and Im 22 with one speeding ticket.:o

Wow, sounds like the Lightning should be much cheaper than a 99+Cobra. Time to start looking...
