Question Would you pay 40k plus for an 05 L

A curious question for those of us who may be considerating an 2005 Lightning...

If you knew the price would be 40k or 40k plus would you still buy one OR would you try to find a new legacy 04 on the lots?

For me, 40k hits a mental barrier of that "it's just too much money" for a truck, even an L. Opinions appreciated.

I think that is too much money for me to spend on a truck. Not too bad considering that sticker price in Hawaii is $38,804 for a new L at the dealership right now. I paid $35,000 for my 2001 with 4200 miles on it. Although I have spent close to $15,000 on it since I have bought it.

I'd pay 35-37k but I don't think I'd pay 40 or more. Seems kind of ironic though since I've invested about 16K in aftermarket to my 02 that I paid 29K for.

If it really comes out at 500HP/TQ, I'll order one the first day they let me.

40K would be cheep! The SRT10 is 56K. The 04 Loaded F150 is about $40K. I beat the 05 L is about 50K

Not the first year it’s out.

I plan a having my 2002 L for several years then I might give it
some serious consideration. Yeah! 40K for a truck or auto seems like a lot but considering what might be out there in the same performance range it might still be a bargain 2 or 3 years down the road.

I don't know. I gotta see it first. I want a Vette too bad to pay between 40 and 50 thousand bucks for another pickup. Especially when the one I have is better looking. Hmmmm. Maybe a drive-train swap.

Well...there is kind of a marketing catch22 here in that if someone hopes or expects the 05 to be in the say 35-38k range and waits for the first dealer arrivals and finds out their 40k plus...then the panic to find a leftover new 04...of which there probably wont be many...and also remember that when the first Gen II's hit the lots many greedy dealers charged list plus.

So you could wind up without a 05 or 04L.

No,I would not spend $40k on a 2wd truck. Ford should keep it priced reasonable or they will not sell.GEEZ there are still 03s and 04s on lots right now in my area for $29999 and they are not selling. The market is flooded now.Yes they might get $40k the first year but after that,When the newness wears off. they wont be getting that much, they will sit on lots in most areas.
If they cannot build a gen 3 at a reasonable price they should look at cutting some things out of the concept truck.

Considering that like many others that I paid well under $30k for my '01, I'd have no interest at that level.
