It'll have an automatic.

The other two I don't have any idea about.

I'll wait until 2006 and buy the 2004 as a used model 1/2 price

I like the lower purchase price of our Gen2's. I would rather spend the 10-20K in mods making it exactly what I want not showroom condition. Things that make it less attractive are some rumors I have heard like: 700lbs heavier (boo), automatic (expected a 6spd), likely no brakes (demo has Brembos). Those are a few things I do not like. 700lbs is more handicap than 500bhp can make up for. I know they will go cheap on the brakes. Also not sure the IRS will hold up to drag racing loads like the Cobra's. When you get to 40K+ purchase price I start looking at Zo6 Corvettes and H2's, not a single cab 2wd truck. I bought my 01 for sticker 32.4K and thought it was fair except for the warranty issues with the plugs and crappy rods and J1 series of trannies. I also bought an 03 Zo6 for 45.5K in April and it has zero mech issues. It has heads and cam making 450rwhp all motor, runs 11's, and gets 26mpg. I feel that difference in quality comes with the price tag. Ford would have to build a much more reliable truck and not try to fricking void my warranty for a muffler or air fiter like they do now Sorry if I make no sense

I would Prolly go back to a Mustang, the only reason I bought the Lightning was Performance for the buck.

I really don't know ???

I'd wanna see some major Performance AND STRENGTH improvements, before considering spending that kind of money.
