im going to be installing my 4lb lower pulley today at the house..i have a diablo chip also...and i will be getting it tuned..but i have to drive to Orlando to do that....will it be safe to drive with the pulley on, without having it tuned yet?? or is thier a way to "unplug" the diablo...What will i have to do to make it safe...and would it be safe to still get on it some???

Pull the chip and you will be fine, Even if you make a WOT blast. If you dont want to pull the chip, you will be fine as long as you dont get into boost. A couple lbs boost wont hurt but just dont go WOT.

Id say you would be better of since the chip was programed for no additional boost to pull the chip since the stock programing probley has more fuel and less timing in it. Plus its getting cold these days 84 here today. Id say take the chip out and then go romp on it all you want. I d this while my chip was getting reburned.

You should be fine without the chip with a four pounder. Once you get into 6 and up, that when you really don't want to drive around without a good program on your chip. Just don't WOT too much until you get it tuned correctly with the chip.

You should be safe. I had a chip, dyno tuned still got detination, and 4#. So I pulled the chip and haven't had problems yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

my chip is burned right now for an additional 2lbs....because of my 2lb upper pulley...so...the chip is burned for extra boost... i am running 10 psi right now...so adding the 4lb lower would make me run 14psi correct?? so i should pull the chip...

To answer both your questions, not really. Your chip could be set on the edge with the 2lb upper only, in other words lots of timing. If it does have alot of timing, adding that extra 4 lbs would put you over the edge. The same goes for your fuel curves, you might be on the edge with the 2lb upper. Now to address the amount of boost you will see, Boost is dependant on blower rpm. A 4lb lower is rated at 4lbs with a stock upper, since you have a smaller upper already the multiplication will be more. To give you another example, A 4lb lower on a Harley will only net you 3 extra pounds of boost. I would suspect that if you dont have major belt slip, you will have 15lbs. If the air is cold you might see more, your in Florida it doesnt get cold though.

yeah it usually doesnt get too cold..mid to high 70's now...in december it does get into some 50's...being from jacksonville.....but back to the chip issue..4lb lower and 2lb upper would be to much on the stock computer? just driving around for a week or so, until i get a free weekedn to go to Orlando..i might make a couple of WOT runs just to see how that boost feels...but i def. wont be going crazy with it...i just need a safe aplication to run that boost..keep the chip in, no chip, im not looking for the fastest aplication...just the safe way to run a 2lb upper and 4lb lower and still be able to make 1 or 2 WOT runs, for about a week or so, until i get my Diablo tuned by a tech. thanks guys

Safest path ... No boost til you get the chip programmed
for the correct amount of boost ... Simple, huh? You don't
need to come back posting a "Kaboom" thread do ya?

Even one WOT with detonation could throw a rod, my friend.

Please keep me updated and let me know what you think of them. Also if they use a wideband O2.

Thanks,
David
