I think thats an awesome idea. A family friend of mine is in the process of putting a turbo f-150 together now. He took the built 4.6 route because of the larger numbers of aftermarket goodies, and for the fact that the 4.6 seems to be able to handle a bit more boost (He mentioned the shorter throws associated with the crank/rods/pistons of the shorter 4.6). He is running one larger turbo, and wants to get to the 600/650 hp range. He is also putting in a manual tranny, a 5 speed tremec IIRC. I will get back to you on some more specific info if I can track him down. Good luck with the project though!!!!!

You can goto www.nloc.net and check out the Gen 1 Section. They have a quite a few people over there with turbo(s) on their 351s. It should give you alot of ideas.

If your going with a turbo on a 5.0 check out ffcobra.com forums, a couple guys have put twin turbo set ups on cobras. Or check out ls1speed.com they do Ford too, and do a lot of turbo stuff. My bud just did a twin turbo Z28 and it runs 10's on the stock block!

Turbo

I've banged around the turbo idea, I guess you really have to ask how far do want to push it, as we all know a built short block is manditory for high boost application ( turbo or blower ) but the down time as well as money needed to engineer out the system, computer issues ect.. is what turned me off to the idea. Dropping on a Kenne Bell is easy and gives you great results, I think more can be had with a turbo(s) than any current blower setup, period, but not without a big buget and alot of help. Good luck, Todd

Question

I have also thrown around the idea of a turbo conversion for my lightning. I am collecting components as we speak, in the mean time would you be interested in something like this?
