Looking to Purchase 99 L

Well my Lease on my first car is coming to an end, and this december im lookin into buying a 99 L. I was wondering what a good price would be, for a 99 L with not too many miles.

What are some things to look out for?
Is it better to buy private or from a dealer?

I dont wanna have too high of a monthly payment, so i figured a 99 would be the cheapest i could get.

Or, does getting a '00 or '01 not make that much of a differance?

Thanks alot in advance for your opinions and comments

-mike

I'd say the price is prob. gonna be around 18-22k for a nice one. I gave 17200 for mine about 2 months ago. I talked the guy down and drove 12 hours one way to get it. It has definetly been worth it. I've heard the 99's have a little stronger rods, but not sure. Make sure the 99 u get has had the intercooler recall. And last once you start throwing pullies and chip and a 90mm maf, you will notice no differance between a 99 and 01 with the same mods.

Cool Looking for a 99 L

If you're looking for a 99, I have one and I've been considering selling it. It's black, has a Cervini ram air hood, tailgate spoiler, and, a Brand new Pace-Edwards roll top cover on it. By the way, it has under 14000 original miles on it and looks and runs like new, never any problems and has had the intercooler changed even though there wasn't a problem with the original. If sold, the original hood goes with the truck. I had it rust proofed, even though it has never seen foul weather. It is parked in my garage with a custom cover on it, this too goes with the truck. The reason I'm thinking of selling it is because in less than 4 years I will be retiring from Ford Motor Co. and as it stands right now, I have the L, a 2003 Marauder, and am picking up my new Ranger next week. I also have an 11 sec 83 Mustang that may be up for sale soon, too many cars, not enough time to play.
