Comprehensive claims don't necessarily affect your premiums. It's usually when you have claims for accidents. I've had several comprehensive claims and never an insurance rate increase because of them. Some of your discount insurance companies might play that game, but that's why I've been with a major carrier and the same agent for over 30 years.

My guess is it was a rod

Broken rod = hole in block. Hole in block = oil on the header. oil on header = big fire

If it was there would of been a light on on the dash saying low oil press, Or check guages.

Supposedly the 04's have already been out as some of the members here have seen them on dealer lots. Haven't heard of anyone buying one yet though.

What year was it? Cause I had an 01' where the starter didn't dissengage and caught on fire. It also made a loud pop and then a real bad squealing noise. I go call roadside assistance and when I get back to my truck I see flames coming from the side of the engine. May or may not have happened to yours but it would be something to check out....sorry about what happened though
