Hey Guys,
I had some custom work done on a AAD hood and it is now wieghts too much for the factory struts.

Does anyone know where I can get a stronger strut to fit our hoods? Can anyone even give me a clue as to where to look?

I'd like to know too. I've searched high and low with no results. Even bought brand new FoMoCo hood struts, thinking mine where weak. And all I have is the Cervini Cowl, but it must be the heaviest one out there. Nobody else has the problem, I even called Cervini, and they said that they have never heard of any problems keeping their hoods up with the factory struts.

I solved the problem, by cutting a piece of 3/4" pvc 4 1/4" long. Then I used a grinder to cut a slot 1/4" down the entire length of the plastic pipe. The slot allows you to slide the pvc over the strut rod, so when the hood is open, the pvc locks in place. And when the hood is closed, the pipe slides over the strut body
