Monster Box / Monster In a Box

Can someone (maybe Chikenears) explain the difference between the monster box and the monster in a box....their site has some basic explainations, but if someone could explain it completely that would be great. Also, If i go with a monster in a box kit, what am i giving away, as opposed to getting the monster box? THANKS

Monster box is the whole transmission. Completely rebuilt. You have to send back your old tranny as a core. The monster in a box kit, simply is just that, all of the components to do the rebuild to your own tranny in a box so to speak. -Mat-

P.S. I still didn't forget about you.

thanks mat....so then the overall cost to have someone rebuild the tranny with the monster in a box kit would be close to buying the monster box and paying to have that installed........

It costs alot to have a monster box shipped. Monster in a box would be much less to ship, and you can use the savings to have a local transmission shop do the work.

All depends on where you take it and what they feel like charging you. A lot of shops are not going to warranty parts that a customer walks in with. Granted there is no "real" warranty with a monster box anyway. But I could see you saving a bit of money, especially with the shipping charges involved. -Mat-

SVT F15O explained it very well, thanks -Mat-.

By the way, there are only a few days left on the Factory Tech Valve Body Sale. I have a few left, get em now and save $25.
