Check Engine Soon light.... ???!!

Hey everybody,

My first mod -- I customized my air intake -- replaced the rubber piece with a custom stainless steel one and then put K&N filter (see the pic below). The truck felt much faster, but then within day or two, Service Engine light came on. I was driving like that for a week and then reset the light by disconecting the battery and turning the headlights on. The light went away for about one-two days and came back on again. However, the truck didn't feel as fast anymore. Is my intake causing the light to come and stay on and if so, is it a bad thing and how bad? I'm thinking about taking it to the dealer and puting the original one back so they don't freak out... but the thing is the light will probably come back on again. Any suggestions? On a different note... it would seem also that stainless steel piece would heat up much easier than the original rubber piece, which means there's no real advantage to it, or am i wrong? Thanks alot in advance.

I don't see a chip in your sig. but anyway those K&N's will do that because of the fresh filter with the oil on it ! gets on the maf meter clean it , also throttlebody reset and go !!

if this doesn't fix it, go to a local auto parts place and get your codes scanned

Thanx for the advice. I'm not sure where the maf meter is and how to reset the throttlebody either, he he. I'm still new to all this, so if you could explain it to me, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
