first kill...sort of

well, went up against a ws6 today. im new to the lightning world, so not sure what we can and cant hold up against. apparently a ws6 w/borla hedders, borla exhaust, hurst shifter, and 4.10 gears is not one of them. we were at a stoplight, he revved his engine so i went along with it...and hit it when the light went green. we were neck n' neck for about 5 seconds (he was toyin with me) and then he just disappeared. d'oh. ws6 ,1. lightning, 0. but here is where i killed him. i was going to home depot, and low and behold there was the same ws6, trying to fit some long boards out the back of his car. i went in, bought some quickcrete, some 2x6's, threw them in the back of my truck, and off i went, watching him wonder how to fit all that crap into his tiny car. ha! ws6, 1. lightning, 1.

p.s. i had talked to him in the parking lot, thats how i knew about the mods.

how many miles are on your truck? Is it even broken in? They dont have the same "pep" when they are right off the dealer lot.

Break her in properly, I wouldnt beat on her until you have at least changed the oil. .02

I ran a Six speed SS camaro Conv. a while back.
Mods at the time were Full basanni exhaust,
chip, Air-Aid intake, & 2LB. blower pulley.
Don't know what he other than a loud *** exhaust.

Both of us eased out when light turned green,
Then we hammered it.
We were running side by side till he hit forth, He walked
away slowly from there. One he started walking I shut it down.

It was pretty cool, Each time he banged a gear the nose of
the Camaro dropped back to the front of my door, Then regained his postion.

I've added a 4LB. lower and reflashed the chip since then.

Ha Ha! that's pretty good. The capacity for self-evaluation is always a good trait to have. A few more miles and some tuning and I'm sure you will nail him the next time.

my truck imop is broken in..oil changed 70 miles ago. it now has royal purple. my truck has a little over 700 miles on it, never pushed it once minus my a$$clown friend taking it that one night, so i decided to go against that ws6. didnt go over 4300 rpm, and didnt race for more than 5 or 6 sec. i was told good break in was to vary the rpm's, which i hadnt really been doing, so i figured this was a good way to actually go past 3300 rpm's. dave, i hope that was a joke, becasue if it wasnt thats not very cool.

What pray tell are you waiting for? I'm guessing that you've got to be at least 50yrs old. This isn't a '69 Mach I where you have to seat the rings and valves. Keeping it under 4300 rpm, give me a break. Just make sure it is warm and use the rpm's that Ford gave you for crying out loud.

Sorry to give it to you, but man I can't understand the thinking from 30 years ago that still persists today. Drive the truck like you intend to drive for the future. The L is a great truck, so get out and drive. Good luck
