Paging RUSTY

Rusty,

I've been having rough idle issues with my 01 L and this morning
stopped by MVPerformance in Statham...spoke to Tim...Tim
said you had a very similiar problem with your idle and finally got
it resolved...could you please give me any information about this?
Thanks....Georgia_Moon.

You wont be finding rusty anytime soon. He's farming hard this week. He wont even go to the track with me this weekend. Maybe I can help. The problem with his truck was that he wasn't getting enough fuel pressure. There is a resistor under the bumper of your truck that only allows one of the fuel pumps to work at a time (he has the twin fuel pump deal). This was somehow causing his truck to skip at idle. I hope that helps. If not let me know and ill try again.

Both pumps are wired to the same power and ground wires. The only way one pumps works and the other doesn't is if the pumps were custom rewired or one pump is broke.

Thanks for the fast reply...Tim did mention something about the resistor or rectifier under the bumper...that gives me info to relay
to the SVT engineer and dealer tech...thanks again moses.

By the way my old stomping ground was right near you guy's
in Reidsville...

Next time your down our way give one of us a holler. We wont be far. Sorry I couldn't be more help. I could have explained it wrong, but i was just repeating what i was told. What ever the resistor does, when he removed it, the idle problem was fixed. Sorry for the mix up.

Are you saying that he removed the resistor and did not replace it?

I just called rusty on his link and he said that he just did away with the resistor. They just wired it out of the circuit.

ga moon, moses is right. thats what i did to fix my problem but before you do that u need to check fuel pressure. it is my understanding that u shouldnt be doing this unless u are making pretty big power. if your truck is stockmotor and supercharger you dont need to do this. i would check coil packs and plugs first. way back 4 years ago i had a #4 coil pack go bad and it caused an intermedint skip to it. hope this helps. if u need me like moses said he can contact me during the day and talk to me. sometimes it is weeks be4 i get back on here. however i do check my mail so email me. i try to check it every 3 - 4 days. just make sure u get my attention in the subject heading or it will be deleted with all junk mail.

Rusty

RUSTY:

I sent you an email.

So now I've asked SVT to help straighten this out...right now the dealer is supposedly trying to arrange a time with an SVT engineer to call the dealer tech while my truck is in their shop to try a different approach to diagnosing this problem.

Thanks for writing back RUSTY.
